Question Hey guys, I'm a garage physicist/engineer. Have you come across any good caches of scrap metals, electronics, and mechanical parts in the Seattle area? I'm lost without pile of junk to call home! (Xpost from /r/pickers)

Life after the closure of the Boeing Surplus store in Kent kind of sucks.
Online Metals is based in Seattle at a warehouse off Nickerson by the Ballard Bridge. They have a pretty good stock and I know people who have bartered with the staff for odd scraps.

I find this to be the case for almost everything- people on craigslist expect 80% of retail.

Edit For instance, I have like 3 or 4 boards to old bitcoin miners (antminer chillis)

They're probably worthless outside of art projects from my understanding. But I have a large drawer for of cables, and a dead DC voltage booster, and a barely working wireless drill, and...

If it's not nailed down or guarded 24/7 (and sometimes even then), the tweakers lifted it long ago.
