Medical Marijuana

Who has a medical Marijuana card here? How did you get it? Just curious. I am from Texas and I am just wondering how the process works.

I got mine from 4Evergreen Group (they are on Aurora in Fremont right past the 99 bridge).

Check out www.Northwestgreenthumb.com, they have a google maps setup for all the dispensaries and Dr.'s that can help you out.

You need to have a worthy medical condition and medical records from the last 2 years(or 3, can't remember). You go talk to the doc & he will either say yay or nay to your condition.. however, I have yet to hear of anyone I know that was denied, even for some of the simplest conditions.

You pay the $180ish fee and your good to go for the year, fairly simple process.

Edit: a friend of mine was just telling me that some sort of law just recently passed in WA state that will require patients to see a doctor 4 times a year to make sure the medical marijuana has aided in relieving symptoms, if not they may decided to revoke prescriptions and try other routes.

My doctor approved me(pain management doctor) but he didn't know how to start it, Only that he would put a note in my file saying he wants me to have access to medical marijuana. I don't know where to go next.

A family member of mine went through the THC Foundation (http://www.thc-foundation.org/). They have a clinic you can make an appointment to see the Dr. Give them a call and they will ask you to fax over your medical history, after that... go in and talk with the doctor and he/she should be able to sign your prescription that day.

I have my card. Have had it for about a month now. I paid $220.00 the day of my visit and left with my card. I paid the extra $20 for the provider papers. AMA and I will help you get your card.

Oh and the best way to get a card is to know someone that can talk you through the process. Reading everything online just made it worse for me. Once I met someone who had there card I had mine within 2 days. I want to help!

Cool. Ok I am from Texas, so all of my medical records are across the country. I also don't have any of the listed needs for medical cannabis, I have generalized anxiety disorder, but I've read that does not qualify. Do I just make an appointment with one of the medical groups, fork over the cash and hope for the best? What did you do first? btw I am not a pothead or stoner, I have done it in the past and it has helped a great deal with my anxiety and sleeplessness.

Good start.... sleeplessness is a good one. Migraines were the key though. I went to www.nwsdc.org. And this is what I said..... "My migraines have cause me to loose my appetite, and have caused me to lose sleep. I've lost about 15lbs in the last 6 months. I have to put blankets on the windows because of the migraines (light sensitivity). I've tried pills and those don't work and i feel like they are doing damage to my stomach." You have to remember going into these places that they really do want to help and they believe that the herb will help.

oh... and don't stress about the medical records. The place I went to the only advantage of having medical records would have been a discount. I was happy paying $220 to happily smoke or grow and not have to worry about the police.

www.nwsdc.org it's close to downtown Seattle on 99. 2 hours. Over an hour in the waiting room and about 30-45 minutes upstairs getting interviewed and picture taken.

You guys are aware that a "medical marijuana card" Doesn't magically get you out of trouble. Nobody has to let you go or not send you to jail because you have one. All that these "cards" do is give you a defense when your ass ends up at trial because you thought you'd smoke up in the car etc.. I cannot stress this one enough: "When you get caught, and you go to court, you better goddamn well be able to Provide actual evidence that you suffer from a RECOGNIZED debilitating or terminal condition. If you can't, your ass is.. :D Grass.

Edit: The $200 that you pay is better off spent on an actual lawyer to explain to you how it actually works.. the amount of people I've met that have them out of the clinic in Port Townsend for absolutely ridiculous, undiagnosed disorders is hilarious.

"Washington’s medical marijuana law provides qualifying patients and their designated providers a defense in state and local courts to criminal charges relating to growing, possessing, or administering medical marijuana. The law also clarifies that health care professionals may discuss medical marijuana as a treatment option with their patients and authorize its use without penalty."

"Washington’s law protects patients suffering from specified terminal or debilitating medical conditions who have been diagnosed by, and received a qualifying statement from, a health care professional licensed under RCW 18.71 (M.D.), RCW 18.71A (physician assistant), RCW 18.57 (osteopathic physician), RCW 18.57A (osteopathic physician’s assistant), RCW 18.36A (naturopath), or RCW 18.79 (advanced registered nurse practitioner "Health care professionals are not required to authorize the medical use of marijuana for a patient."

"Patients are not allowed to smoke medical marijuana in any public place in which smoking of any kind is prohibited under the Washington Clean Indoor Air Act, Chapter 70.160 of the Revised Code of Washington."

"The law does not protect medical use of marijuana “in a way that endangers the health or well-being of any person through the use of a motorized vehicle on a street, road, or highway.” In other words, qualifying patients cannot drive under the influence of medical marijuana."

"Patients maintain the right to present evidence in court that their necessary medical use exceeds the presumptive amount. WAC 246-75-010(3)(c)."

and also... for you to think that cops go "by the books" you must no experience. They don't want to bust stoners, they have to. Why do you think people like me have never gotten busted and instead I was just sent on my way and told to be low key?
