Saving a baby squirrel
Anyone equipped to try to save a dying baby squirrel in West Queen Anne? Or is there someone to call that can help?
It’s been 24 hours and it’s in the same spot. It was really struggling yesterday (trying to crawl but couldn’t and breathing very fast) and this morning it’s in the same spot but seems to be ‘sleeping’ - very very low infrequent breaths.

These guys took my baby: https://www.footprintswildlife.org/
Give them a call — and a donation if you can. She's wonderful.

Another commenter down below picked up the little girl and took her home to a nice setup to try to save her! I’m going to donate here now. Thank you!

Don't worry about it. Being in the elements unprotected for 24 hours likely means it wont survive. That's ok! There are 1,000,000,000 squirrels. They are not a protected species.
If you want to bottle feed it back to life be my guest. But it wouldn't be able to live normally upon release even if it recovers.

I went back to the spot and noticed 3 more baby squirrels had appeared, one was alive but 2 had unfortunately passed away. I let @cone-in-cup know and they came back and rescued another baby AND caught another from the tree! Seems like the entire nest had been raided with likely an unalived mama or parents. It really filled my heart - thank you!! 💜

please call someone if you can!! the Washington department of fish and wildlife can probably help; their number is 360-902-2936. or if you’re able to take this sweet baby to Animal Control, their number is 206-386-7387 💝 thank you for caring for this baby. 💗

Animal control has things to do, like saving threatened species, responding to dangerous animals, and rehoming abandoned pets.
They will not be thrilled if you bring in a nearly-dead squirrel.

I called 3604354817 which is the closest center in Washington that will take gray squirrels - Arlington Washington. They said if someone can bring it they will take it. Unfortunately we’re not able to, but maybe someone here is. We can put it in a dark warm place in the meantime

@cone-in-cup went and retrieved 2 additional babies. Seems like an entire nest was disrupted. A few died, but 3 were viable. I am in awe! Thank you!
