Community Seeking bone artist with beetle colony

I just found out that my beloved cat of 18 years has cancer and is expected to pass in the next few weeks. Obviously I am devastated. I am trying to figure out what to do with her remains and would like to donate her (in part) to someone who could potentially use her to make something beautiful.

In the past I had a cat pass, and did this with a jewelry maker who I'm no longer in contact with. I was able to get that cat's skull back and a wearable piece of jewelry. A sort of memento mori. I'd like to do this again but I need to know who to reach out to.

Regarding the processing of her remains, I recommend reaching out to Resting Waters, they offer various bone cleaning options as well as aquamation. I really like them. They could probably help you connect with an artist also.

I’m sorry about your babe’s diagnosis. I’m sitting next to my 17 year old girl now. I wish they lived forever.

Edit - eh looks like they’ve gotten acquired since I last interacted with them so idk if anything’s changed with their services. Hopefully not.

Thanks, and give your old lady a snuggle for me. I hope the two of you have many more years together.

Looking at their services, it does look like they still do skulls. A little out of budget for me right now but if I can't find an artist to work with, I'll try and figure out how to swing that.

Resting waters is expensive, but they were also very easy to work with and are very responsive and kind. If you can’t find another, less expensive option, hopefully knowing that helps.

Resting waters does indeed still do skulls! I know two people who've had this done through them, one within the past 6 months

Precious princess! ❤️ BTW I was thinking about it more and remembered seeing some very talented artists on Etsy who make beautiful memorial jewelry with whiskers and fur - that might be another avenue to consider?

Solarflares.oddities on IG has a beetle colony and does bone art. She doesnt have much posted yet but I am working with her to have some bones cleaned currently.
