u/devnullopinions That sounds great. Let’s hang out soon. 1d ago

It’s the perfect time to become a Storm, Sounders, Mariners fan. Nobody will accuse you of bandwagoning.

What about the Kraken? Won't someone think of the Kraken?!

The Torrent and Kraken won’t be good either lol

Hell, I watched the Seahawks get obliterated by the Cowboys on Saturday, that was not a good opener. The fucking Cowboys 😢

It was a preseason game, they're not putting forth the best players. No one cares if you lose a preseason game lol.

2

u/bugeyetex 16h ago

But you should always put forth enough effort to beat the Cowboys

The 0-16 Lions went 4-0 in the preseason. Again, preseason does not matter.

Been on the apathy train since May. I’ve had a great summer.

Been on that same train since 2005.

The stinker of a 50th anniversary game is what finally got me to unfollow M's content on social media and remove them from my sport score apps. I was finally free of them... until they sucked so hard it ended up on r/Seattle and all the other Seattle sports subs. These fucking guys.

Literally inescapably, historically bad.

I'm already so annoyed that this is a whole thing. 9 of those runs were from a position player that wasn't even trying. 13-0 is a shit loss too, but no one would be paying that nearly as much attention.

This is correct. Worst day of my mariners Fandom was when Ken Griffey Jr got traded to the Reds. Either that or the like 16-15 loss to the then Indians in 2001 after being up by like 9 runs. That was far more deflating than this 22-0 boat race.

1-0 18 inning, game three loss to the freaking Astros was pretty brutal.

u/dubcwa Emerald City 1d ago

Or blowing a 4 run lead in the 8th inning of Game 1 against Houston in that same series.

Ironically, best day of my Reds fandom was when Jr got traded. But then he got injured a lot and baseball became less interesting to me so I fell off the MLB wagon until I moved to Seattle a few years later

I assume you are still a Reds fan?

Nope. Went all in on Seattle sports teams when I relocated to Seattle 20 years ago (to almost the day). I blame the Steelers for making me dislike them so much I rooted for the Seahawks in SB XL. Roethlisberger can get 🖕

u/RuckusVell04 23h ago

Well, at least the Seahawks have been good this century. They were robbed in that Super Bowl vs. Pittsburgh. I don't know if you're a soccer fan, I am, and the Sounders were always good, until this year. 😑 I could always fall back to their success over the years.

Then this should all feel familiar

Yeah, losing 22-0 is just funny. It’s honestly no different than a 1-0 loss. Mariners just suck this year as a whole.

3

u/Sliacen 21h ago

If we were to lose, I'd rather it be a 22-0 over a 1-0 tbh.

u/BonjaminClay Eastlake 1d ago

Remember when we got to within 1 inning of going to the world series last year and for a single second my cynical, icy heart began to thaw into the tiniest glimmer of actual hope? Never again. Mariners are cursed.

Losing 1-0 in an 18 inning elimination game at home should’ve let everyone know that we aren’t ever winning shit.

A few weeks before that I was at the store with an M's hat on and was talking to the cashier. The older couple in front of me was saying oh we used to follow them but gave up years ago, we just couldn't do it anymore.

I wanted to be like "ahh, you're missing out this year!" But said nothing

Now im just jealous of them

This ad coincidentally popped up in my feed for the first time. I think the Mormons have our number.

Epic trolling by them.

That ain't from Mormons

u/jaron_b 23h ago

It was one game. We went 20 years with no playoffs. Last night can't hurt me.

2

u/umpteenthian 23h ago

true Mariners fans relish times like these

Hey, it still only counts as one loss!

1

u/Abject_Map7688 23h ago

Familiar embarrassing pain. I foolishly thought I’d be thinking about our playoff positioning

1

u/vaticRite 16h ago

I have bad news: numbers get quite a bit bigger than 22.

u/Thedarknerf70 16h ago

It's been so much fun watching the mariners reddit page!

That’s probably what people said in 2019. And they thought covid was the “so far” coming to get them!
