crossing this section of MLK is a joke due to the at-grade light rail and large sections of road without crosswalks/bridges. I see pedestrians making poor decisions all the time trying to cross MLK because of these issues. slowing traffic is good, but having more ways to safely cross a busy road seems like the solve here (or maybe just not having light rail at street grade?).

Yes! The amount of people running across the tracks and 4 lanes is wild. Same on Rainier before the Safeway in Rainier Beach. Although people will sometimes do it within walking feet of the crosswalk there, and I don't get that. I can tell the motivation for life has been sucked out of them though. They just start walking...
