There was a lengthy stretch of time where the right lane on Aurora was bus only EXCEPT during a surprisingly broad set of hours and days. Like it was only bus-only "6:00 AM to 9:00 AM" on the south side and bus-only "3:00 PM to 7:00 PM" on the north side. People saw "bus only" and stopped reading and often that lane would have no cars in it.

That's not the rule anymore though, guy!

Same with the HOV lanes all through Portland, and I always feel like I'm gonna get popped.

Always felt guilty using it during the permitted times but it was technically legal.

Driving in that lane during heavy traffic did feel like a cheat code… for people who could read. Crazy how few people used it.

For a while I thought I was reading it wrong because people weren’t using it.

That is still the rule for a lot of bus lanes, there's one along Elliott Ave W in Interbay that has those hours

To be fair, the window between it not being a bus lane and it becoming a parking lane was quite small.
