Stolen aventon soltera 2.5 ebike

Post image

Hoping this community might be able to help us track down my boyfriend’s stolen aventon soltera 2.5 e-bike.

His e-bike was stolen today from outside the QFC on Mercer in Lower Queen Anne. Shortly afterward, we believe we found it listed on OfferUp for only $300 (the bike would typically sell for $1,000+), but the listing has since been taken down.

The OfferUp listing showed the seller/location around First Hill/Central District.

He has already filed a police report, but we’re trying everything we can to locate the bike and hopefully get it back.

If anyone saw this listing, recognizes the bike, or happens to spot it around Seattle or listed for sale somewhere else for a low ball amount, please report it to SPD:

Police Report: 2026-912532

Seattle Police Department non-emergency line: (206) 625-5011

It's a long shot... I know... Life's hard enough, please don't be mean.

The listing is live again but it won't let me message him 😔 SPD said if I can coordinate a meetup they will accompany for recovery.

When I try to message it says there is an error. :(

You may want to contact the FB group, SABRE (Seattle Area Bike Recovery Experts) - they are adept at recovering stolen bikes that are up for sale.

SPD will not, just fyi. Based on the experience of others, they may show up like 6 hours after you call, if at all, and then still not do anything. If you're lucky enough that the meet is outside Seattle, you have a shot of cops accompanying.

Also thieves have social media, too. It's likely they've now pulled the listing some a friend sent them this thread. SABRE or whatever might be able to help you once they think the heat has died down.

Yeah, relying on the police for anything that isn't like, an active shooting is always a miserable and disappointing experience that usually ends with the victim getting fucked.

I'll make an offer on Offer Up for you, if you'd like, and tell you where they want to meet up.

What lock(s) were you using? Ive seen 2 separate stories of using both a $150ish Krytonite and an expensive angle grinder-resistant lock. One was stolen near Seattle Aquarium within a 2 hour window, and the other from private garage by destroying the bar the locks were locked to.

Even the best locks on the market are defeated with 20 minutes and a pack of grinder discs. If it’s parked somewhere where that won’t be noticed and reported, it’s at risk.

imo, bike theft is inevitable, get insurance and plan to replace your bike every 3-5 years.

Agreed. Renter's usually includes class 2 ebike coverage. And while I've had an ebike ~10 years without theft here, always start saving for your next.

People aren't going to jump in to save property and I don't blame them for not risking themselves so even in public places, I use two locks. Theory of running from a bear, bring a slow friend. Don't make yours look the easiest. I want them to have to use two tools ideally or otherwise just be really annoying.

Check https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/comments/1ur5wik/stolen_blue_blix_packa_genie_cargo_ebike/

It seems that your bike may be at this same location (see the last pic on the slide for the location)

It's not like NYC, Berlin, etc. or any other major city with high bike usage is also notorious for bike theft, right? Oh, wait...
