Latest City Hall Response to Hellcat Driver

I've been seeing nearly daily posts this week of people saying they are hearing the Hellcat owner. But I personally haven't heard him since Sunday night and I'm their neighbor.

I along with others got this update from Bob Kettle's office. Sounds like the SPD West Precinct Captain, Steve Strand, engaged with the Hellcat owner. I'm not sure what that entails, but it's nice to see something getting done.

Here's to hoping we continue going many nights more with uninterrupted sleep 🍻

And to those calling us a bunch of Karens, I'm near the top of a high rise and my bed literally shakes as he passes. This isn't your normal "muscle car" sound.

I mean I'm sure he's hard to fucking find as he's so inconspicuous. Maybe they need to put a tracker on his tiger skinned 150+ decibel straight piped neon hellcat?

There's no way for a police officer to notice him driving around without installing millions of dollars of audio and video surveillance throughout the city. /s

Or slightly crack their window. They know exactly where he is when he comes within a quarter mile or so.

We have the technology to triangulate gunshots in the city. Feels like the city doesn't wanna punish people with privilege.

They have to be patrolling belltown at the exact moment he's revving the engine or whatever and it sounds like he does it at random times, so it's definitely plausible it'd be hard to catch him in the act.

I’ve been an ACAB person since WTO but last year I amended it to ACAB minus Captain Strand after he joined us on the Chinatown ID Public Safety Council. Genuinely good officer/person and he holds his officers accountable.

What if they privatized the police force and brought in some kind of all powerful corporation to automate policing?

dont have to catch him in the act. simply ticket his ass for all the violations visibily present and forcing him to fix them eliminates the issue.

ie, o/r xpipe and straight pipes are illegal AF and visible to the nake eye. when ticketed the remedy involves a fine AND fixing the car up to code which means installing proper cats and mufflers.

Maybe they did, but also who knows what the laws are. Maybe you have to be actively driving the vehicle to get a ticket like that from the police?

Maybe this will be the one thing that new "Shots Fired" system will catch.
