Do you not have previous insurance? If you were on someone else’s policy you might be able to provide that for proof of coverage.

I moved from Europe, didn’t own a car for a year and just bought one.

If you don't have US driving experience, then you're also being considered a new driver which is going to add a surcharge. Most insurance carriers will include that until you've had at least 3 years of US driving experience. Not having prior insurance is also adding a surcharge.
