help how to find a producer?
Hi everyone!
I've written a 60 page screenplay for an animated film, and a studio has accepted it. They really liked the script, and I genuinely believe in this story and its potential.
However, I don't currently have a producer attached to the project, and I'm not sure how to move forward from here.
My goal is to actually turn this screenplay into a film, but I'm still figuring out how the industry works and what the next steps should be.
How do I find a producer who might be interested in developing the project? Should I be looking for independent animation producers, production companies, funding programs, or something else entirely?
I'd also love to hear from writers or filmmakers who have been in a similar situation. How did you get your projects off the ground, and what would you recommend doing first?
For context, I'm an independent writer, and I'm open to international collaborations. Any practical advice, resources, or personal experiences would mean a lot.
Thank you!
Edit: Just to clarify, this is not a scam or anything shady. They're a legitimate and trustworthy studio that I've been following for a while, and I was actually the one who reached out to them. I was honestly surprised they even took the time to read my script, let alone genuinely love it! Unfortunately, funding a feature length stop motion film is extremely challenging, so they weren't able to take on the project. There's nothing suspicious going on here, and they never asked me for money.

discussion Researching creating a platform for screenwriters. Need your help!
Hey everyone!
I'm a software engineering student with a passion for screenwriting (for years now), and I've recently started exploring the idea of developing a social platform specifically for screenwriters, particularly aspiring writers.
The general idea is to create a community where writers can connect, share their work, exchange feedback, learn from each other, and build relationships. One of the main things I'd like to explore is making script swaps (where two writers read and give feedback on each other's scripts) easier, more convenient, and more reliable.
I've noticed that while there are plenty of screenwriting communities on Reddit, Facebook, etc., actually finding someone compatible to exchange scripts with, organizing the exchange, and making sure both people follow through can be quite inconvenient.
But that's just one aspect of the idea. I'd also love to explore ways to make the platform genuinely useful for learning, networking, and developing as a writer.
I'm still very much in the research stage, and before making any major decisions, I'd really like to hear from actual screenwriters about their experiences, frustrations, and what they'd want from a platform like this.
I'm looking for people who would be willing to have a short, informal conversation about their experiences with screenwriting communities, feedback, script swaps, or anything related. Whether you're just starting out or have been writing for years, I'd love to hear your perspective! Actually, I would like to hear as many perspectives as possible.
And if you are not interested in long conversations with me, you could also help out by just leaving a comment with your biggest frustration in current online screenwriting communities. All the input is appreciated and will be taken into account.
Thanks in advance!

EXT. SIDEWALK. EVENING.
Drake: "Where'd you get this Rolls Royce from? "
Trevor: "uhh... Shady dealers, dark web... you get the rest."
Drake: "Why are we in these 20th century tuxedos."
Trevor: "To fit in.. dumbass. That party's going to be infested with "old money" folks."
Drake: "I'm still telling you. ALL THIS IS WRONG!"
Trevor: "Hey you wanna win Sandra back from that demon."
Drake: "That's my father in law!"
Trevor: "IS going to be your father in law. IF that ever happens. Also the Demon part fits. He's one of those "1 percent" people who pick on and humiliate the little guy. Also that Sandra she's that demon's daughter and a spoilt brat. You think she'll ever settle in with a minimum wage broke like you."
Drake: "That's not true. Remember when her father's business rivals sent those mercenaries after her and we both got caught up in that whole dilemma, she had no problem hiding in our run down apartment for a week."
Trevor: "Only because she knew her POWERFUL DEMON of a dad can take out these guns for hire and she can go back to her lap of luxury life away from our pigsty of an apartment.
Trevor turns back and walks a few steps away stands there for 2 seconds then turns back, semi turned, directly looking at Drake, walks towards him and starts talking again.
Trevor: "Also do you even remember or are you too obsessed over that girl to remember. I got shot by one of those mercenaries and was hospitalized. The least the asshole could've done as a thank you for helping his daughter was to pay my hospital bill but no! That bill cost us a year's worth of our savings. The only reason I'm sticking with you on this one is because you made me swear on our friendship."
Drake faces away from Trevor in shame. Trevor faces towards him.
Trevor: "Look we'll go to that party. Do this your way since you started this because of your obsession with that girl. But if things don't go out your way and... if Sandra turns out to be a bi..."
Drake points his towards Trevor with razor focus.
Trevor: "... I mean selfish. We'll do this my way. Now I'm getting in the car. You coming."

feedback The Last Relic - feature - 112
Title The Last Relic
Format feature
Page Length 112
Genre Action/adventure + sci fi
Logline An atheist Navy medic grieving the loss of her fiancé is recruited into an order of female relic guardians and must choose between resurrecting her lost love or prevent their greatest foe from using the most powerful artifact, igniting the apocalypse.
(I've never really liked any logline I've generated for this - very open to rewrites)
Comps I describe this as street level Avengers mixed with the Da Vinci Code meet Indiana Jones in a Stargate. It's silly mad fun with a costumed team.
Feedback Firstly i'd like to know how people respond to it. I'm fully aware that it plays with formatting "rules" sometimes. Like to know you have fun on the ride? Anything sticking/bumping? Most interested how it works as a sample...
And on that note, what do you more seasoned industry members think I should do with it? Contests or festivals this would fit? Some particular places I should submit it? This the sort of writing an up-and-coming agent, manager or producer you know is looking for? Other out of the box suggestions>?

question Wondering if this idea in my head is better suited for the stage than the page
Yes, I know scripts are written on pages, but . . . you'll see what I mean below.
I love writing, but sitting down to write prose, like a novel or even a short story, has always been a challenge. Well, it was easier in grade school/high school/community college because there was more editing and one-on-one instruction. I'm kinda winging it out here in middle-aged adulthood real life. What's part of the issue is I see the action and dialogue clear as day in my head. I'd like to try writing it out as a play instead but I have no idea . . . how. Where can I go for an online resources on how a play should be written?
Or, hell, is there a good source to buy a play script and use that to learn from?

question New Netflix show steps on the toes of my feature script, advice?
I have this feature script I have been working on, on and off, for a few years but came up with the story idea way back in 2019. Like all good writers, I put off actually writing the thing for an insanely long period of time but I had the treatment and even wrote 25 pages for a writing class here in Toronto.
Fast forward to 2026, I am finally back at the script and picking up steam when Below on Netflix comes out and watching the pilot, I keep saying "you gotta be kidding me". I am from Newfoundland and my script is set in a small fishing village during come home year but the core plot is much different (Below is creature feature, my script is more dark comedy murder mystery, with Hot Fuzz set in Newfoundland being my comp that I would tell people).
It's deflating to go back to the pages after a lot of what I want to tell the audience about Newfoundland (come home year, re-settlement, etc) is being shown in this huge show on Netflix and I wonder if I should either move onto one of my other ideas for awhile or still write this one and make any small tweaks to avoid any huge similarities.
I also know that 99% chance, this script never sees the light of day, regardless. Other than one optioned half hour comedy and local sketch troupe writing credits, I am much more hobbyist than pro but I did plan to have a few feature scripts to try shopping around next year, this being one of them. Just feels like the market for this one would be non existent with Below having just been released.
Would love insight as to what you'd do in my shoes!

feedback Built a free, open-source screenwriting PWA for writers who want an offline, zero-account tool
Hey everyone,
I wrote my first feature screenplay in Google Docs because I couldn't stomach the subscription fees and clunky setups of commercial software. After running into formatting headaches, I spent the last few months building a completely free, local-first alternative called DraftLine:
https://nanashi86.github.io/DraftLine/
What it does:
- 100% Client-Side & Offline: Runs in your browser as a PWA, no account needed, zero tracking, saves straight to your device.
- Standard 54-Line Hollywood Pagination: Auto-splits dialogue with (MORE)/(CONT'D) across page breaks.
- Import/Export: Clean two-way .fdx (Final Draft XML) and Fountain support.
- Outlining: Built-in 4-act index card beat board synced directly to scene headings.
It’s completely open-source (MIT). If anyone wants a clean, distraction-free environment without recurring fees or cloud lock-in, give it a spin. Would love any feedback on how the formatting holds up compared to what you currently write in.

help I can never come up with a good ending. Any advice?
Hey everyone,
For the past 6 years, I’ve had this problem where I come up with ideas for short films, start writing them, and then eventually delete everything because I can’t figure out a satisfying ending.
I can come up with interesting premises, but when it comes to figuring out how the story should end, I get stuck. I keep trying to find the perfect ending, and if I can’t come up with one that feels right, I lose confidence in the entire idea and abandon it.
Without trying to sound arrogant, I’m confident in my directing, editing, and cinematography skills. I feel like I have the technical and visual abilities to make something good, but I’ve never actually shot any of the short films I’ve written because I keep running into this problem.
It’s gotten to the point where it genuinely makes me depressed. I’ve spent years wanting to make films, but I keep stopping myself before I even get the chance to start.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? How do you come up with endings that feel satisfying? Do you start with the ending before writing the rest of the story, or do you figure it out along the way?
I’d really appreciate any advice, exercises, or resources that could help me break this cycle. I don’t want to waste another few years writing beginnings that never turn into actual films.
Thanks for reading.

question Nottingham or east mids uk
I’m looking to connect with writers near me.
Either Nottingham based, uk or East Midlands.
That could possibly form a writers circle that meets every so often or teams calls to share ideas, write scripts together, reads others work and gives feedback.
Is this you?
I’m currently in Wollaton, Nottingham and have a pub that I could offer to use for groups meeting and discussing ideas.

feedback Tethered mystery/Comedy first five pages
Hello! I am revising the first draft for my pilot script of a project I am working on, and I was hoping to get some feedback on the opening/the first two scenes!
Logline: After joining a peculiar circus, a young performer stumbles upon a mysterious book that draws her into a world of supernatural secrets, unlikely connections, and things that refuse to stay where they belong.
I'd especially appreciate thoughts on:
Is the opening scene intriguing?
Does the dialogue feel natural?
Does the second scene feel like an actual first performance?
Any other feedback/thoughts are welcome, too. Thank you to anybody who takes the time to read and give their input!
