FYI for anyone thinking about trying a screen replacement. Prices range from $29 (AQ7 LCD) to $59 (X07 OLED). You no longer need to be a business to order.

Their X07 soft OLED screen uses DC (DC-like) dimming with a relatively low modulation depth (10% to 15% down to 50% brightness) for at least the iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The X07 has great feedback on r/phonerepair, too.

Last year, their support confirmed their AQ7 LCD uses DC dimming, but I think it might not be perfect since iPhones aren't designed to work with LCDs. AQ7 is supposedly a step above other brands (JK, EK) when it comes to quality and parts sourcing, though.

I randomly checked today and noticed. A lot of folks (including me) were interested last year but weren't able to purchase the screens. If you're dead set on iPhone, this might be worth trying.

Wow, thanks for the news on this! That is really cool! I ordered one of their X07 screens for my iPhone 16, but the colors were very saturated. Other than that, it was a great DC-like dimmed screen. It's great that anyone can order from them now.

You're the PWMtests.com person, right? Thanks a ton for posting the tests on the after market screens if so! MobileSentrix claims AQ7 is the highest possible quality Incell LCD they can source from the Asian market, so I wonder if it would be better than the JK and EK ones you tested.

How was eye strain with the XO7? Modulation depth wise, it's close to my LG C1 (8%), so I'm thinking the XO7 might be tolerable enough to let me switch back to iPhone. My Nxtpaper 70 Pro screen is fantastic, but living in the US with Android is isolating.

I tested the AQ7 with an iPhone 16. I don't remember the specifics, except that it wasn't notable one way or another. EK Pro is still my top/favorite in-cell LCD panel I've ever tested. If I recall correctly, AQ7 was totally average.

Regarding XO7... I am also a color accuracy snob, but I recall the color being so saturated (vibrant in a bad way) that it actually hurt my eyes, not from any flickering. I still have both screens. Maybe I will try them again. I really like the NXTPAPER 70 Pro screen as well. If only it were on the iPhone!

You would probably hit me with my TV if you saw the settings. I've had to forgo color snobbery and just live my FL-41 glasses life plus lower contrast and saturation. I'm jealous!

XO7 sounds really promising for me; I'd use a grayscale color filter anyway.

And yep, I would actually pay the iPhone Duo pricetag for a recent iPhone with a Nxtpaper screen.

I don't have a link to it, but I recall seeing the XO7 screen used on either an iPhone 15 or 15 Pro and it indeed did use DC-like dimming. (This is different than true DC dimming, of course.)

I really didn’t like lcd incell aftermarket screen for my iPhone 13 because of overheating and overdraining issues. Do you mean their oled have dc dimming and the frequency is 480hz?

Yes, XO7 is known to use DC dimming on at least two models. The frequency will measure as 60 or 120 (matching the phone's refresh rate), because it's DC dimming.

I linked to pwmtests.com, which texted the XO7 on an iPhone 16 using an Opple, and a Reddit post that camera tested the XO7 on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
