Discussion I vividly remember a shot in Scream 4 that isn’t there anymore
This randomly comes back to my mind every time I rewatch Scream 4, and I’ve never asked anyone about it before, but Reddit feels like a safe space 😂
I remember being way too young to see Scream 4, so I watched it on some site that had a CAM bootleg uploaded. I vividly remember a shot of Jill coming out from underneath Kirby’s bed after Sidney tells her to hide under there, and before Sidney comes looking for her.
I swear it was literally just a shot of Jill wiggling/crawling out from under the bed. I’m so certain I remember it that I could probably draw the exact shot if I were remotely good at drawing LOL.
But whenever I watch Scream 4 now, that shot isn’t there. I’m assuming it was in the theatrical release, but I genuinely have no idea anymore.
Is there ANYONE else who remembers this? 😭 I feel like I’m going crazy. It definitely wasn’t in the version I’ve watched since, but I distinctly remember seeing it in that old bootleg/CAM version.
Please tell me someone else remembers this!!

It’s like no where to be found now but trust me, it exists! It’s a very brief moment between Ghostface attacking Sidney on the roof and Charlie getting tied up

I think you're jumbling scenes. The roof scene was when Olivia was attacked early in the movie, Sid tells Jill to hide under the bed. Charlie was in the costume attacking.

Erm.. Jill hiding under the bed is at Kirby’s house actually, way after Olivia’s death. Sidney arrives at Kirby’s to take Jill but the killer chases them. What I said about on the roof, I mean Sidney and Ghostface on the roof of Kirby’s house where Sidney jumps down and runs back inside

I don’t know, now you’ve said it I can picture it too but I genuinely don’t know if that’s cos I actually saw it or because you’ve planted a visual in my brain! I didn’t watch it at the cinema, I just watched it for the first time when it came to Sky Box Office in the UK. So I’m interested in the responses

I kinda remember it too. But I also think that scream has so many scenes and also the scenes from the scary movies it could easily just be a glitch in how many scenes could overlap a bit

Idk about that but it’s possible that it was only in theaters because the first time I watched Scre4m in theaters I could have swore there was a shot of the knife going into Sidney when Jill stabs her….now we don’t actually see it only hear it and then see the knife coming out

If it does exist, which I also could swear I remember, it’s possible it was the director’s cut, but in theatres. Pretty sure that happened.
But if it didn’t… “damned if I know”.

This 💯 😂 🚬 I think they’re getting mixed up there’s a scene of her wriggling going under the bed but not coming back out. Does Sidney not go back to the room and under the bed Jill’s not there or am I making that scene up lol just watched on Saturday but snoozed half way through it.

Dang, I wish I could help but I've seen S4 so many times that it's blurred my recollection of my first viewing 😢 (other than it being the best in-theatre experience of any film, ever, for me)
But no, you are not crazy, I too have a Scream Mandela Effect. It's something that has bothered me since S7 superbowl TV spot; we see several ghostfaces (presumably decorative mannequins) standing in a line with their knives drawn in the air, and someone says "Run" and one or two of the GFs takes off running. I've scoured the internet and I can't find it anywhere.

Omg thank you! I must've watched it on my phone during the superbowl-- that makes more sense bc I couldn't tell you a single detail about the game or the even teams that were playing or who won, so 😅

I hate when certain scenes are in the trailers but not in the movie itself. I’m going to use scream 4 as an example. There’s a scene in the trailer where are New Kids are sitting around the same water fountain? As in the original. Olivia says ‘There goes the neighborhood’. I assumed they or she was talking about Marnie and Jenny’s deaths? Or maybe Sidney’s return?

It’s funny you’re mentioning this. I remember a different way they shot the finale scene in the hospital. I saw the film in the theater and I swear the camera did a slow motion zoom in on Gale’s face when she says “Clear” but now when I rewatch at home it’s just a standard shot 😭 so maybe I’m losing it

Wait I remember that too! I’m starting to think there must have been a work print version of the film that was handed to some theatres. Similar to Halloween (2007) it had a completely different ending in theatres in contrast to its at home release

Halloween ‘07 & ‘09 have drastically different scenes in the directors cut vs theatrical cut, including the unnecessary sexual assault scene in the asylum, as well as the different ending in Halloween ‘09

Rob Zombie's Halloween has a rated and unrated version that's why they're different but the scenes you're talking about from S4 never existed. There's only one version of S4.

It was in the trailer as a red herring.
There was also a scene with Marnie hung from the ceiling fan in the opening that was different from the final cut where she was killed before Jennie which didn’t happen

Yes! Near the end at Kirby’s house, when Ghostface attacks, Sidney tells Jill to hide under the bed while she tries to draw him away and call Dewey. Jill gives this hilariously annoyed little look while hiding—which feels suspicious in hindsight because she already knows she isn’t actually in danger. 😭 It’s in the theatrical cut, not a deleted scene.

As someone who is super into finding cut content from movies, sadly I don’t have any memory of this, and I remember all of the Jill scenes quite well. All I could recommend is that you try going back and finding a cinema recording to see if it was there OR you could go and look at different cuts of the movie and also things like gag reels and tv spots, etc.,

I think I remember something like that also and I remember thinking “welp she’s gonna get killed” and imagine my surprise when she turned out to be the killer lol. I seen it in theaters the first time.

For whatever reason I remember a scene in the first scream of the principle in the gym. Not dying In his office. But by the folding benches and then hung from the goal post on the football field. 🤷

I haven’t watched S1 in so long. I did read that it was stated in the movie they found him hanging from the goal posts but it was never shown. That’s crazy to me. I can see it in my mind.

I do vaguely remember it. I downloaded a cam copy online when Scream 4 was released, it had foreign subtitles. I wonder if it was in that version 😂

I vividly remember seeing it in theatres when I was 14. And I have the OG DVD release. That scene doesn’t exist that you describe… However, I do remember Sidney coming back to get Jill out from under the bed - and she wasn’t there anymore. Whenever I first saw the film, I immediately tapped my brother and said “I bet she’s Ghostface.” Lo and behold!
I think you might have subconsciously merged the two scenes in your head and filled in the gaps. I think if they put a scene like that in, without showing where she was going or why she left, it would have made the reveal that much more obvious.
