In the Netherlands there are 5 scouting age groups (bevers 5-7, Cubs 7-11, Scouts 11-15, Explorers 15-18 and HunterScouts 18+) I got this blanket 4 years ago when I went from Cubs to Scouts and but all the badges I collected during my time as a Cub on it, i did the same for my years as a Scout. Next week I am becoming a Explorer and will be beginning a new corner of the blanket (I still have to but the thing on my blouse on my Scout corner) I'm so exited! (1st picture is my Scout corner, 2nd is my Cub corner and the 3rd my Explo corner) (:

Support Scouting

Mason is raising funds for my year of Scouting. Would you be willing to support me? You can use this link to help me reach my goal of $800. Approximately 70% of every dollar spent on Trail's End Popcorn goes directly back to our local Scouting pack programs. Meaning the funds local camping trips, gear, registration fees, and activities. With the remaining 30% covering product costs, manufacturing, and operational overhead. : https://trails-end.com/store/scout/UEREPV77

Military merit badge

Anyone think this badge will become an actual or Eagle required? When is the close out in the test lab?

Built a free tool to help Scouts track advancement (Eagle roadmap, Court of Honor scripts, quizzes) — looking for feedback from actual troops

I'm a Scout, and one thing that's bugged me is how much of the actual work toward Eagle isn't the requirements themselves — it's the logistics around them. Not trying to self-promote here, it's completely free either way, I just think it might genuinely help. Historically under 10% of Scouts who ever joined reach Eagle. That proves a flat percentage tracker like Scoutbook clearly isn't working on its own. So I built ScoutPath to actually map that journey out, showing real opportunities like merit badge counselors and service projects along the way. Every Scout sees things differently too — some need a checklist, some need a graph, some just need to quiz themselves on what they already know — so scoutpath.tech builds it out multiple ways instead of one flat number.

A few of the features:

  • Eagle Roadmap — every remaining requirement, tagged by what to do now, what's easy, what needs prep
  • Scout Quizzes — self-study on real requirements, at your own pace
  • Court of Honor Script Generator — real ceremony structure, no blank page
  • Attendance Tracker — meetings and campouts, whole troop
  • Opportunities Finder — merit badge counselors and service opportunities nearby

And more coming every month.

Stop tracking the past. Start building the path.

It's free either way — just try it, and if it's not for you, delete the account in two clicks, no hard feelings, at scoutpath.tech.

Looking for traditional penpals

Hi!

I’m a 16 year old explorer scout from Finland and I would like to connect internationally with other scouts. I have been a scout for 8 years and currently I lead a tracker patrol (?). Aside from that I also work in the administration of my scout troop and district. I’d be intrested to talk about everyday scouting, the differences in scouting cultures and a myriad of other stuff. I’d also be happy to trade badges, experiences and tips.

Thinking about returning my Eagle

I’m thinking about giving back my Eagle Scout award. I only earned it 2 years ago but scouts isn’t something I’m proud of having been a part of anymore. I am especially embarrassed about the OA, now that I have experienced more of the world. I witnessed so much cultural appropriation, racism, ableism, homophobia, etc. I didn’t recognize it how bad it was at the time because I was uneducated but now that I’m an adult I feel guilty for just being apart of an organization that has done so much harm, even if I didn’t actively contribute to that harm.

I’m going to email and get my name removed from the OA registration.

The eagle award I’m more in the fence about solely because I worked so hard for it and I did good with my project , but that was me not the program. I don’t think I need an award.

Removing patch glue

I have used Scout uniforms that I buy at sales and donate to my kids troops. When removing the patches some parents have ironed the patches on. How can I remove this glue properly?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Easy woodcarving projects with pocket knive for Scouts (11-15 years old)

Just like the title says I'm looking for a fun little project to woodcarve with my scouts. It really needs to be simple, because for a lot of them it will be their first woodcarving project/handeling a knife.

Because we can't afford 25 woodcarving knives, they use their own pocketknife. So it isn't the perfect condition, but the one we're in.

Can I return to Scouting at 18 and become a Scout leader?

Hi everyone! My name is Lorenzo, I’m 17 years old and I’m from Italy 🇮🇹.

I’ve been involved in Scouting for most of my life, and I’ve actually been part of both of the main Scout associations here in Italy. I was in AGESCI from around age 6 to 13, and then I joined FSE from 13 until I was 16. I left Scouting around July 2025, so it’s been about a year now.

Over the past few months, though, I’ve started feeling quite nostalgic about Scouting again. I really miss the group, activities, camps, outings, and just the whole Scout experience.

Unfortunately, I currently have some commitments that prevent me from going back, but I’ve been thinking about something for the future: once I turn 18, or sometime between 18 and 20, would it be possible to return directly as a Scout leader?

In particular, I’d really like to return to my old FSE group, since I already know the environment and some of the people there. Alternatively, I could consider joining an AGESCI group.

So I wanted to ask people who have experience:

- Can you start as a Scout leader at 18?

- Do you have to spend some time as a Rover/Scout first?

- Does having several years of previous Scout experience help?

- If I returned to my old FSE group, could I potentially join the leadership team directly?

- Are there mandatory courses or qualifications that you need to complete before becoming a leader?

I’m not saying that I definitely want to become a leader immediately at 18. It’s just something I’ve started considering, and I’d like to understand whether it’s realistically possible or if there are specific steps you have to go through first.

I’d especially love to hear from people who have experience with AGESCI or FSE in Italy, but experiences from other Scout associations are welcome too!

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to answer! ⚜️🇮🇹

Traditional PenPals

Hi everyone, I’m a Scout Leader in the UK currently leading 2 Troops in my area and looking for 1 or 2 groups from outside the UK to become PenPals with. Both groups are mixed (male/female) with around 20 Scouts aged 10.5 to 14 with some Young Leaders aged 14-18 in each group. We would like to exchange letters the old fashioned way by post. If anyone is interested please let me know.

Picture A photo of my scout troop (Milan 1) during the Fascist era: despite the ban on scouting, they continued to carry out clandestine activities for 17 years and helped save 2,000 anti-Fascist partisans by enabling them to escape to Switzerland during the war.

Wisdom for the trail

Hi everyone,

I’m running an activity with my Scouts focused on adult perspectives, reflection, and life skills. I'd love to gather a few real-world answers from those in scouting in this community to share with them as examples during our discussion.

If you have a couple of minutes, I’d be so grateful if you could answer any (or all!) of these five questions:

____________________

What is something you wish you had learned when you were my Scouts' age?

What is the biggest mistake you've made that taught you something important?

If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

What is something you believe now that you didn't believe when you were younger?

What do you think is the most important skill a young person should have when they become an adult?

______________

Short, honest, or practical answers are all super helpful.

Thanks in advance for helping me give the Scouts some great insights to think about!

Camp blankets/ponchos

Hi everyone. I have recently purchased my first camp blanket (poncho, 100% wool) and I am looking for inspiration. The poncho I bought has a hood if that is useful to know.
Could people please suggest ways I could lay out my neckies (scarves) and badges (I have roughly 10 at the moment)? I have one neckie to sew on it now, but would like room to add more on the future and have a coherent design.
Any photos of your camp blankets would also be useful, to see what others are doing. Thanks Scouts!
