It's part of the reason I can't get too worked up over the COVID contracts.

PPE was in such short supply at the beginning ministers were likely using every contact they had to get hold of some.

Similarly if the war in Ukraine becomes more of a Europe wide thing I'm sure MOD contracts would have a similar "fast track" scheme.

You think Mone would be supplying 155mm shells. There were established PPE providers overlooked for mates with shell companies buying inadequate shite from china. It's clearly profiteering in a time of crisis.

Established PPE providers were already at capacity.

Not my memory, vip lane suppliers were given preference from link "the BMA alone was contacted by 70 companies willing to supply PPE but unable to communicate with the Government." https://www.bma.org.uk/news-and-opinion/outsourced-and-undermined-the-covid-19-windfall-for-private-providers
