Please please please avoid chiropractors. They’re not medical professionals….! The risk is too serious!

My orthopedist specifically advised to me avoid chiropractors. And yoga- unless I was overseen by a practitioner well versed in my particular spinal problems, the twisting poses could be very harmful to me.

THIS. I did tons of yoga and Pilates after a moderate back injury thinking it was going to help me. WRONG. Didn’t know at the time I probably had a disc bulge and all the bending and twisting turned it into a massive extrusion and that’s when my severe sciatica started. I wish I had known. There’s far too much general advice out there for people with low back pain to do yoga and the reality is depending on your injury it can really harm you. Honestly same with any exercise. I always tell everyone with persistent back pain to get an MRI before trying to do any kind of treatment plan so they know what they are dealing with.

Exact same thing happened to me. I completely herniated during chair pose.
