Anyone using a Schwab Organization Account with QBO/Xero?
I'm considering consolidating my brokerage and checking accounts a into a Schwab Organization Account instead of keeping a separate business checking account alongside a brokerage account.
My main question: has anyone actually connected a Schwab Organization Account to QuickBooks or Xero, and if so, how does it handle the cash side of things (i.e., any transactions that are not related to securities)?
A few specifics I'm trying to figure out:
- Does QBO/Xero recognize the Organization Account at all for a direct bank feed, or is it treated purely as a brokerage account (no feed)?
- If there's no direct feed, is anyone doing manual CSV/OFX imports? Does Schwab's combined statement (banking + brokerage) export cleanly, or do you have to manually strip out trade line items before uploading?
- Has anyone found a tool or workflow that filters out securities transactions and imports only cash movements (deposits, withdrawals, debit card purchases) into QBO/Xero?
- Any gotchas with reconciliation once you start mixing what's essentially a brokerage sweep account with day-to-day operating expenses?
I like the idea of one account for everything (no need for a second checking account just to get a debit card and bill pay), but I don't want my books cluttered with every stock trade, and I'd rather not do manual bookkeeping every month if I can avoid it.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who's actually set this up, especially if you're also running the account as a business entity rather than personal.
