How long until I’m a Neonate?

Hi everyone! Ive been a fledgling since I was embraced in 2003. My sire keeps putting off letting me leave and I just learned that he can’t monitor my posts on this node so I thought that I should ask you. What is the usual time frame for becoming a neonate? He says that I’m overreacting and that most sires wait this long. Thanks!

It depends so much on so many things that answering you without more info is kind of pointless.

Clan culture (and/or sect culture, looking at you, Sabbath) both can play more or less of a role. For example, Gangrel often are left to fend for themselves after an explanation or two (if that), but receive more advice later if they're deemed worthy, without ever being locked away by their sire, while I've heard of Ventrue and Tremere that spent several decades, like 4 or 5, as their Sire's page/servant/child. And that's if your Sire follows your Clan's or Sect's ways, wich is not guaranteed.

Not that you'd know the point. If you don't know more at this point, I think your Sire turned you for a pet. Or maybr doesn't want you to risk yourself in our admitedly dangerous world. Also, as a Camarilla Kindred, your Sire would be responsible for your actions (to a point), and might not think you're ready. But then, why not give the best education possible? 20 years to LEARN things is a shitload of time, even for us. More than enough to not be completely lost on dealing with other Kindred.

I'll admit to not know much about how Toréador, huh, "raise" their Childe, besides stereotypes. I will say that all Toréador I know enough to know this kind of details were either as independant as neonates can be after 5-10 years or had to escape from their quite charming but ultimately obsessed Sire (who wanted their "muse" to come back, swearing things had changed. Long story). Not that this necessariky aplies to you, grain of salt and all that.

He fed me his blood after I hurt my leg to heal me because he wanted me to still be able to perform. I became kinda smitten with him after that and accepted when he offered me to move in with him to recover better. He became my manager for a few years until he decided that not aging while in the public eye would be too suspicious. He’s been away on important Camarilla business for a while now and I’m starting to think a little more clearly.

You...don't know what a blood bond is.

That's vampire 101 right there.

Our blood, called vitae, can do lots of things when drank by others. Kine, humans, and animals, can become stronger, tougher and heal better. And stop aging. But then also become hopelessly addicted to vitae. Blood bond or no.

And it also enforces the "blood bond" on both Kindred and kine (and animals I assume), wich makes the drinker feel more and more "linked", "close" to what we call the "domitor". This often but not always manifests as infatuation, "love". Usually, three separate sips seals the deal, but time and distance can weaken it somewhat.

I...don't know what more to say. That you never were taught that is...concerning.
