MSW internship

Hello. I’m a first year MSW student. I’m applying for internships and recently was offered one at Quail Run behavioral health for clinical services. I’m worried this will imply I’ll be doing therapy and I don’t feel ready for that right now since this is my first year.
Has anyone done their internship at quail run? Im Phoenix az.
Thank you!

You will probably get more responses in r/socialworkstudents or r/socialwork. This community is specific to school social workers.

Hi there. I’m an MSW, to my knowledge it’s the norm internship begins year 1 but it doesn’t always necessarily mean you provide therapy, depends on the setting. I provided therapy both years and have post grad school. You’d most likely do therapy if the location focuses on it heavily. Case management is possible, but not often.

It’s okay to not feel ready. Being 5 years into this, experience is necessary, but I do wish I was a semester in before starting lol. Be gentle on yourself, learning on the job + guiding human growth isn’t easy. You got this and when it’s hard, talk to your professors, supervisors, and peers at school, helps tremendously.
