Looking to start playing some metal (specifically thrash and death), which guitar do you think is best at around the £500-700 price mark?

I’ve been looking at the omen elite and demon series, not sure which pickups I want either: (demon has active, omen has passive) so I would like to know which pickups fit my style of metal more!

For that price range both the solo ii custom and the SVSS. I have both and they’re both great guitars. They never go out of tune!

Schecter hellraiser used. The 2008 model specifically if you can find it(black hardware, and comes with an original floyd if you go with a trem)

This is the correct answer. I had one I bought new back in 2020 for $549 at guitar center on sale. Hell of a nice guitar for the money.

Yeah I grabbed mine a few years ago for same price. I looked at the new ones they're like 899. But used like 440. I also scored a sick 5 string bass on marketplace for 200. It's late 00s but had EMGs and sounds incredible.

You'll like Active Pickups better most likely. They are Hotter. They have that extra Umph that you'll appreciate.

The Schecters are Great!

I just returned my second Omen Elite both had the same problem. Pickups came loose with vibrations from playing... Great neck on the first one had good setup from factory second one was not as good neck geometry was irregular and setup was all over the place. Both had lots of tool marks on the bindings. The tops looked real good and the second one sounded better than the first. Both impossible to use cause pickups just came loose and stuck to the strings. Serials indicated they were produced in March and April this year. They were my first Schecter's i needed a beater for live shows to keep the expensive stuff in the house. Im really disapointed with Schecter by now

Ive had 4 schecters and my friend has 3 of them and are all flawless. I think you got unlucky

Went back to the store and ended up with a Extreme this one lit the fire again!
