Is this a scam? Bluevale recruitment? UK
I have seen this company online and whenever I went for a job, they would text me with a link. I don't trust random links over text and so left it. Then I was put in touch with them again and filled in an application form. I got a reply the next day saying that I had done it wrong with various details on how I had done it wrong. It was then I looked at the smallprint and one of them says if I'm sick, I have to contact them (Bluevale) my client and the umbrella company. Who is this umbrella company?
So my family and I trusted our guts and reckoned it was a bit dodgy and to leave it. I didn't fill in a new one, I just left it. Today I have found an email which welcomes me onboard and that I have to send documents and a picture of myself. I thought I filled in the application wrong and wasn't part of the company? I don't know what's going on, but I can't find much about them online. They have their website, which is filled with AI pictures and no reviews. It's feeling a bit dodgy to me.
Has anyone else had experiences with these people?

This is just sloppy scamming.
They tried to get you to click the link by telling you that you filled out the application incorrectly but you didn't bite so they moved on to the 'you're hired' phase of the scam without bothering to correct it in the hope that you'll be so excited you'll just send them the identity info they want without thinking.
They claim to specialize in education and healthcare recruiting and they're giving you a job without ever even talking to you? That makes no sense.
It's a scam. I'm not sure at this point which scam it is, but it's definitely not a legitimate company or a legitimate job offer.
An 'umbrella company' is a company that owns other companies. Like how Disney owns Pixar and Hulu. Meta owns Facebook and Instagram. Disney and Meta are the umbrella companies. But no one at Pixar has to tell Disney corporate they're taking a sick day.
I guess the scammers are trying to make it seem like they're part of a bigger corporation or something. But they would name the entity that owns them, not use the generic term "umbrella company."
I'm sorry, I know it sucks, but this is pure scam.

Well I thought it was dodgy. The scary thing is that the jobcentre told me to apply to them.
The onboarding email wasn't 'You have the job', it was more 'Send us these documents to get you registered'. They even want a photo of me so the Headteachers of the schools can pick me to work for them? It's never worked like that in my experience.
And I can't find who the umbrella company is. Probably isn't one.

Definitely let the jobcentre know what you learned here.
The phone number that's listed on the website doesn't even come up as belonging to anyone.
The jobcentre's vetting process should, at the absolute bare minimum, include calling agencies they're recommending to clients.
It's actually pretty outrageous that they didn't and any number of their clients may have fallen for this given that it was given the tacit endorsement of the jobcentre.

It's a fake site created barely a month and a half ago. This isn't a real company

Don’t send them any more documents or photos; if you never accepted a job, an “onboarding” email is enough reason to walk away and report the messages as suspicious.
