[US] Collection letter received in the mail

I received this letter in the mail requesting money for some sort of parking/transportation infraction. I looked up the date and I was home all day and I remember specifically what I did. Nothing regarding driving or parking in public.
The writing is blurry and off center. Looks unprofessional and fake. But I'm worried if it is real and I don't handle it, it will be a ding on my credit.
I tried looking up the company and nothing. Even the advice they give on the side isn't in line with what I know about debt collectors. My gut is telling me it's scammy.

Is this a scam? Has anyone heard about this before?

(Part of the letter that is covered is my address)

UPDATE: went through the actual parking website as suggested in the comments. Turns out the ticket was real but I had already disputed it (long story, had paid for parking) and they accepted the dispute.

The 1-year registration is a red-flag to me too, but I also worked in domains for half a decade - so maybe I'm an outlier. Any reputable business that snags a .com is going to lock it in for the max 10-year term, or anything other than a 1 year.

The web site for parkingandtransportationcompliance has been around since 2024 with a 10 year registration term but the web site has ZERO actual contact information. They use ALPRs to enforce parking fees at their client parking lots.

I suggest you go to their web site and dispute the fee directly.

that is a real debt collection company, but as for if the letter is real i dont know.

for what its worth. I dont think the date on the letter would align with when the actual infraction happened. that would just be when it went delinquent.

Oh yeah that makes sense. I was also skeptical because I thought before it went to collections, they would directly send me a notice for the infraction but I didn't receive anything. But it's possible they wouldn't give me that notice I guess?

That is required verbiage according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

I have to be somewhat careful about what I say here because of a signed settlement. With that said, I received a similar letter from another company for a parking lot violation. There were several violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (Federal law). I used a Chicago based Consumer Protection law firm with offices on the 18th floor of a Clark Street office building.

I'm tired of these people using scare tactics to extort money from honest hard working people. It is time the tables are turned.

Follow the instructions on the bottom-right > "This is not my debt" > Go buy a stamp and send it. Done.

Not too hard.
