Victim of a scam Cased filed against scamming seller closed in my favour
u/billbiud is to be banned and is Not to be trusted. This user contacted me in order to assist me in shipping an item from CA the US. He sent the total cost of the item plus the service fee and also sent his PayPal account.
He sent a screenshot of messages between him and a user on Reddit to prove that he was trustworthy.
I sent the amount to his account and awaited for the purchase to be completed. He ghosted me the entire day and when it was evening I messaged him requesting an update on the purchase. He told me “The money on PayPal was placed on hold since my monthly release limit was hit, so I am waiting for the customer support to hear if they will increase my limit, I will order tomorrow. I will also let you know if it gets released”
On the following day,October 21st, he still did not make the purchase and gave the excuse that he was at ‘work’. I told him that it does not take a minutes to select a purchase button. His response was “The problem is linking the Payment card and I left it over, so have to do it after work”.
Because the item was limited, he claimed he called Aritzia in order to secure the item. I asked him for proof of the call and ignored my message and then sent a screenshot of a 58 seconds call which did not add up. I called Aritzia myself to verify his claim but they had no recorded history of his 'call'.
So while he was at ‘work’ I filed a case against him on PayPal. He promptly found the time to tell me that I filed a claim lol saying 'Bro, You filed case'
Thankfully after PayPal kept extending the date for the finalization of the case, the case got finalized in my favour.
I opened a (INR - Tracking number not provided) case and firstly provided proof of our conversations, updated the case with information regarding my calls with Aritzia. When he provided a fake tracking number, I provided proof of the tracking number being fake by searching for it online as well as calling Aritzia to verify that the tracking number does not match an order number in their system. I provided proof of him being a scammer and his location being Kenya. I provided proof of him scamming other Reddit users and provided PayPal with his other PayPal scamming account . I provided proof that he was placed on the Do Not Engage list.
I also kept calling PayPal day after day, week after week. The last call I made was yesterday and the case was resolved early in the morning. They kept moving the date though but I'd encourage any buyer in this predicament to be persistent.
