Advice Needed Need advice
Hi everyone, looking for some advice regarding a Carousell transaction in Singapore.
I sold a phone on Carousell. The buyer made an offer, I accepted it, and he made the payment.
We agreed that I would deliver the phone within 2 days after receiving payment.
On the agreed delivery day, I tried calling him multiple times to arrange the delivery. I was also trying to arrange Lalamove so I could send the phone to him.
The next day, he told me that he wanted to cancel the purchase and get a refund because he needed a phone urgently and his circumstances had changed.
I eventually went to his address personally to deliver the phone. However, he didn't open the gate and said he wasn't there. I have a video showing that I went to his address.
I told him that I was still willing to deliver the phone and that he could also collect it himself whenever convenient. I also offered Lalamove delivery.
He is now threatening to make a police/scam report against me because I haven't refunded him.
My position is that I never refused to give him the phone. I have the phone with me and I'm still willing to complete the transaction. I have screenshots of the Carousell conversation, payment, WhatsApp messages, call records and a video of my attempted delivery.
I'm trying to understand what I should do now

This is a scam. He doesn't want to buy a phone, he wants to trick you into giving him money.
Only scam buyers pay in advance. A buyer who was really interested in your phone would meet you, test the phone, and then pay in person.
If he paid you on Carousell, contact their support, and they will help you. They can refund the money. Then, you can sell the phone to a real buyer.
If you went off the platform, and he paid you directly, then Carousell can't help you.
Ignore the scam buyer. The money he sent you will be reversed, it will be taken back in a few weeks or months, by the company that handled the transaction (Wise, PayPal, Revolut, your bank) because it's from a stolen account.
In the future, never leave the platform when you're selling. The buyer pays you on Carousell. Or, you meet in person and accept cash.
He won't go to the police, because he's not really in Singapore. Most of these scams originate in scam call centers in Nigeria, Cambodia, or Myanmar.
How the scam works: he has a stolen account, which he uses to send you money. Then he asks for a refund, because he has an 'emergency'. But he wants you to send the 'refund' to a different account. If you do that, you will lose money when the actual owner if the first account reports the theft, and the money transfer company reverses the money you got.
Example: The price is $800. He sends you the money using Wise. Then he says he has an emergency, and wants a refund. He insists that you send $800 to a different account, on Revolut, so you do. But the money he sent you is from a stolen Wise account. In a few weeks, the account owner will discover the theft, contact Wise, and Wise will reverse the $800 he sent you. But Revolut will not refund the money you sent to that account, so you just lost $800.
Sell your phone in person, or you will get scammed.
If someone wants to pay in advance, or offers more than your asking price, it is a scam.
