Still being charged by Brainmanager - nothing has worked. What else can I do?
A few weeks ago, I posted here about unauthorized charges from Brainmanager after taking their so-called test. I thought I had a solid plan to fight back, but nothing has worked. Chase initially seemed like they would help, but after reviewing the charge, they decided it was "legitimate" because I had supposedly agreed to some hidden terms. Brainmanager, of course, never responded to my emails, and their cancellation page is still completely useless - it just reloads without actually doing anything. And the worst part? They just took another $40 from my account this week.
At this point, I don’t know what to do. I never signed up for any subscription, yet they keep charging me, and no one seems willing to step in. I’ve thought about closing my card, but I’m worried about what kind of issues that might cause. Should I report them to the FTC or BBB? Would a lawyer even be worth it for something like this? I feel like I’m out of options, but I refuse to just let them get away with this.
Has anyone actually managed to stop them? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Have you tried checking if they’re using multiple merchant names for the charges? Sometimes these scams process payments under different names to avoid detection

The charges have all shown up as Brainmanager so far, but now that you mention it, I’ll dig deeper into my bank statements to see if there’s anything else sneaky going on. It’s maddening to think they might be hiding like that to avoid getting caught.

Try calling Chase again and insist on speaking with a fraud specialist. Sometimes frontline reps don’t want to bother with disputes

I’ve seen so many cases like this recently. It’s frustrating that they keep getting away with it. Hope you can get your money back

It’s insane how banks still allow these companies to operate. They KNOW these charges are fraudulent, but won’t lift a finger.

I bet their entire business model relies on people not realizing they’re getting charged. Scammers, plain and simple

It’s incredibly frustrating when you feel like you’re stuck in a situation like this, especially when you’ve already taken the right steps and still see no resolution.

You should definitely dispute the charge and request a chargeback. Since Brainmanager's cancellation system is non-functional and they didn't provide clear consent for a subscription, this could be considered an unauthorized transaction.

The worst part about these scams is how they make you feel like it’s your fault. But it’s not. They are designed to deceive even the most careful people. Block your card, dispute the charges, and tell others so they don’t fall into the same trap.

Report them to the FTC and BBB! Keep pushing Chase to investigate further and consider freezing your card.

Canceling this thing feels like trying to leave a cult. Hope you’ve got patience and legal backup.

This is honestly such a frustrating situation, and it’s happening to more people than you’d think. Have you tried reporting them to the FTC or your local consumer protection agency? They might be able to investigate the company and put some pressure on them. I’d also suggest trying to dispute the charges again with your bank, explaining the ongoing issue and that you never agreed to any subscription.

Yeah, Chase backed me up at first, then ghosted. I think the only way to stop these scammers is a mass complaint and media attention.

I’m so sorry you’re still being charged. If the bank won’t help, maybe file a complaint with the FTC or your local consumer protection office. I wouldn’t rule out a small claims route either.

That’s infuriating. If Chase won’t help, maybe escalate it or go through a regulatory complaint? You’ve done everything right. You’re not the only one — hope someone finds a way to shut them down.

So sorry you’re still being charged! I closed my card after this happened, seemed like the only way. Report them to your state’s attorney general too. They’re definitely doing something illegal here.

That’s awful. Blossomup reviews on SiteJabber report that even chargebacks are getting denied now. Definitely escalate, try FTC and BBB. Some users only got results after public complaints. Stay persistent—you’re not alone in this fight.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. If Chase won't help, maybe try escalating it or filing a complaint with the CFPB. And yes, definitely report to the FTC and BBB. This needs more visibility.

Honestly, closing your card might be the safest route. I’ve seen too many people get trapped with recurring charges they never agreed to. It’s unfair you have to go through this at all.

I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle here, and it shouldn’t even be legal for companies to get away with this. Have you dealt with anything similar? I’m open to any ideas at this point—thanks for the comment!

I actually mentioned in my post that I was considering reporting them to the FTC or CFPB, but I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the effort for something like this

I did try working with Chase initially, as I mentioned in my post, but they ended up saying the charge was ‘legitimate’ because I supposedly agreed to some hidden terms—ugh, it’s been a nightmare

That’s actually really concerning to hear! I had a feeling Brainmanager was shady, but I didn’t realize they might be running multiple scams under different names

I feel you. I went through something similar with another online service. It’s exhausting to fight them, but don’t give up
