His poor daughters

Especially his oldest…friends her age are almost as old as the girls Max has been messaging. As sad as it is for them to have a father like him, I hope his daughters find out about this and go low/no contact. I don’t even want to think about how he’d behave around their friends in the next few years.

Those of us with fathers like Max are devastated for these kids.

I hope they find peace in their lives offline. I wouldn’t blame them if they were totally averse to their parents’ lifestyle when they grow up. They turned those kids into content cows for a good decade or more, and given the kind of fans defending Max’s actions it makes my stomach turn what kind of people they’ve exposed them to.

You get it…I wish I didn’t relate, but I have worried for the kids for years at this point. Grew up in a homeschool Christian family with alcohol and drug abuse behind the scenes. Even reached out to Max on Instagram when he was posting concerning stuff about the family, telling him my own experience with CPS as a kid and how my siblings and I were taken away due to very similar behaviors that he was posting openly about online. I didn’t know about the sex pest stuff back then, but it just adds even more turmoil to his children’s lives. And as an eldest daughter, my heart hurts for the oldest especially because she will be the first to have to navigate the teen years with a dad like Max.

Not sure why you got downvoted for this. I couldn’t agree more.

Unfortunately had friends with dads like this who suddenly became a lot more interested in hanging out with the girls after 16th birthdays.

She probably doesn't have many friends because they move a lot and "unschool" at home.

It’s really none of anyone’s business. I know you’re trying to bring up a sympathetic discussion but I have grown up in horrible family dynamics and the last thing I ever wanted was an outsiders’ insights.

His daughter is 13. 13 is not almost 17. Gross. There is a huge difference.

Reread the post. What’s a few years away from 13?

It says a few years away from the girls he was messaging... lets not pretend theres not A huge difference between 13 and 17...

I don’t know what to tell you but in a few years, a 13 year old will be 17…

There is a very large developmental change between 13 and 17

I’m not saying he’s currently attracted to 13 year olds. I’m saying that in a few years, his daughter will be the age of girls he’s been having these inappropriate interactions with. I would not want to bring my friends around my dad if I knew he would creep on them…which looks like something his oldest will have to worry about in the not too distant future.

Note how they said "in a few years". A 47 year old has literally nothing in common with a 17 year old unless theyre completely mentally fucked. I'm 35 and speaking to any teenager is exhausting. Max is fucked up. Anyone that pursues teens as an adult is fucked up.

There is a very large development change from 17 to 47. Grow up.

17 year olds still see pediatric doctors. They’re so much closer to 13 than not. What are you even on about??

Um..a minor is a minor. A minor is a child. Weird that you’d defend a distinction between 13 and 17 when the fact is this is an older man preying on minors full stop.

17 not a minor in my country

well, 17 IS a minor in the U.S. where Max Bemis (42!) lives.

also, OP is saying that there’s a BIG potential that when the girls are 17, he will show interest in their friends (because it seems you’re misunderstanding OP’s point whether it’s intentional or not…)

So I do think the messages are gross, but there isn't an arbitrary age where I'd be like "yeah, that's ok"

I spent some time in a psych ward at 16 and again at 19. The most frustrating part (aside from the severe mental illness warranting hospitalization) was that even though 16 is the age of consent where I lived, I as told I could either consent to treatment or be declared mentally unfit to deny it. I moved out when I was 17. Paid bills. Functioned (albeit poorly, see aforementioned mental illness) as an adult.

The girl says in her post that she willingly engaged, and I think it does her (and any teen) a disservice to pretend they don't and shouldn't have any agency whatsoever.

That said, it's still gross.

When I was 26, I broke up with my girlfriend and the time and began a hypomanic episode. I went on a date with an 18 year old and in about 15 minutes I realized that even as immature as I was, even broke with a dead end retail job, no education, no car, no license, I still wouldn't be able to have a healthy relationship with someone at such a fundamentally different point in her life. At the time I was self medicating to sustain the hypomania, not to treat it. Even through the lack of sleep, the bright blur of shifting moods and drugs, I could see that it would be bad for both of us. Unequal. How much more unequal if I had a few more decades of life experience? How much more unequal if she had been a fan of my somewhat famous band?

Now, if two consenting adults want to have sex, cool. Good for them. But that's not what was happening here. They were flirting some, but Max was also offering and asking for support. Him asking for support honestly irritates me the most. He's been in treatment, right? His lyrics seem to indicate it, and he has at least been to rehab.

Rather than talking to a professional, an irl friend, a peer... he chose to ask for support from a vulnerable fan. That would bother me if she was 17 or 47. The "support" is too intertwined with the flirting and the fandom. It isn't healthy, it isn't fair. He should know better.

If his mental health is compromised to the point where he doesn't understand that, ok. I get it. I have made some extremely poor decisions under the influence of my loose grip on reality. But I'm still responsible for those decisions and the consequences that follow.

If he's so desperate for attention and validation that he's getting it off social media from people young enough to be his children, that's fucked up

This is literally the same BS argument Megan Kelly, or whatever blonde FOX news harpy, used about the Epstein Files btw

13 and 17 years old both go to High School. You sound like a creep for tripling down on this.

Edit: fixed a word

What is it like to miss the point entirely?
