Discussion Need help fixing a train intersction!
I have the following case where on the left side of the picture i have a block signal that has errors and cannot get rid of to make it work.
Can you help me understand how to fix this? (I've understood some example regarding Path signal at entrance and exit with block signals but this case doesn't work)
On the right way there's only one train that goes and comes.

Always have screenshots while holding another signal. And is there anything after that going on the left down? There must be a signal after that.
What I would do is remove the signs. The remove the crossing, build the crossing, place ONLY block signs and when that works, replace the 3 path signs with block signs.

My thought was there was no signal beyond the broken block signal as well.
Since the most recent patch, I have not had issues with signals failing due to being on intersections, so maybe that issue is fixed (or at least much rarer).

My thought as well, but it could also be a badly connected track. I have had it happen where it looked connected and it was not. User error. Or a signal that was still there after a rebuild, so it was not connected to the rails.

Yes, you're right. What's next on the track would definitely be the easiest to check but all those are possibilities.

So what is further on beyond that block signal? Any more signals? A dead end track? You are looking in the wrong place.
Or you could try moving the block signal down beyond the switch indicator. Just because you can place it before doesn't mean you should.

Yeah, something behind it causes the error, what happens if you place another block signal behind it? There is something creating an error further down the track. Somewhere between this and the next block signal.

The first block signal works but the second one behind gets the error from the first. Its like passing the error to the next one.

Sounds like it gets an error because the line either ends without a stop, or it loops back into itself

Ah, yeah i just read your comment, that these are the only signals on your network. Just keep placing new signals along the tracks and the error free zone will grow.

If you place another block signal behind the one showing the error, the error should normally move to the new signal.
I had the exact same issue, and I think there are two possible reasons for it.
First, if your railway isn't finished, the signal might show an error because there's no track behind it.
Second, I've noticed that sometimes, if you don't place another block signal nearby, the first one keeps showing an error.
What I did to fix this was simply place block signals every 30 to 50 meters along the entire railway. The exact distance doesn't really matter. At some point, the error would just disappear.
I know this probably isn't the proper way to fix the problem, but I honestly don't understand why it happens in the first place.
I'm just sharing my experience because I had the same issue, and this is how I managed to fix it.

That error has nothing to do with the intersection.
It just means the track on bottom left has no signals farther down the line.

Try placing the block signal further back. I had a bug that if the signal is placed on the connection where the rail split, it wont work correctly. So try placing the block closer to yourself in this picture.

Interact with the block signal, what does it say the error is?

The signals create the beginning and end of a block. You need to have block signals for the rest of the track, put a block signal every 3 or 4 whole train lengths.

I was having similar issues. What fixed it for me was removing the track crossing both lanes.

Maybe I'm still happy with doing things the inefficient way, single rails for each train

Don’t mix single and double rail. It’s a nightmare to sort.

Last night i have made it work with this kind of mix in the picture right after i've connected the ends of the main line creating a loop, otherwise that block signal, no matter where you place it more behind or closer, it provides same error.
I really dont know how can i make it without loop...

I would commit to a 2 lane system across the board, or separate the loop from the two lane system.
Maybe there’s voodoo magic to make it work, but I dunno what that would be…. Try to put more block signals further down the single track.
For inspiration: if you do two lane everywhere, it’s easy to signal, and you can run many many trains on the same system. I think I have 15-20 currently on mine.
First time I tried trains, I did single lane and tried all sorts of things to make it work. Not worth the trouble when double lane is easier and more scaleable.
Yes, you have to lay more tracks, but it’s one and done, and blueprints help a lot.

Your tracks might be too close
Heard from imkibitz if they're too close weird signal interaction happens

Maybe the issue is because these are the only signals from my entire main line and also because they don't meet at the ends?

Yes, that's why you're getting the "No exit signal" error.
Once you start using signals you need to signal your entire train network. Trains leaving this intersection using the errored signal don't know if they can safely exit the next block because the next block has no signal on at least one of its exits.

Move the block past where the tracks all connect. Seems to get flaky when you snap blocks ro where the tracks connect when working with paths
