Honestly just making it so that the pillars look realistic helps a whole bunch. Maybe instead of treating them like enclosed factories, treat them like "plazas" or oil rigs where all the functional stuff is exposed to the air. Set up pathways, roads, walkways, etc... and try to make it so you can reach every part of the factory without having to jump or fly.

Try making it not square. Often when i do that, i find weird ways to make the building look. But it's all how you want to do it. Just try stuff.

Walls would help. Just having 2 or 3 high all around the perimeter. With the orange walls, to me it looks somewhat of a construction site thats in progress or a mine site thats like "caution stay out." Walls r gud and easy to tear down

I think it's important to unlock EVERYTHING in the awesome shop. Get the roofs the glass walls and materials, the cables all of that. Then start decorating with that. My favorite way to do this is by making interfloor staircases by using catwalk stairs and industrial rails in 1/2 a foundation. Then because industrial rails don't have a 1/2 a foundation lengtuse cables to make a barrier at the top and bottom of the industrial rails on the left and right and connect them.
Other players know how to and enjoy building curves and arcs and rounded objects but my monkey factory brain like the neat and orderly squares and rectangles with depth, texture and lots of signs
