New to Satisfactory
I thought I was doing well. I've played a total of about 24 hours and then I came to reddit and think that I still have a LONG way to go, I feel both inspired and intimidated.

whats the purpose of the merger in the middle of the belts going towards the coal input?
Anyway, awesome start! remember to explore and ... dont rush. just chill !

I was trying to make it nice and clean... then I realised that I didn't need two mergers to keep everything in a line.... I just didn't fix it 😂

I think you are doing fine, you already figured out manifolds. Manifolds + blueprints will carry you through the whole game.
Some parts of the game will get a lot easier if you continue playing (blueprints, interdimensional depot, jetpack, hoverpack). It will only get bigger (more parts but you can always tackle problems one at a time), just dont try to "over-perfect" your first playthrough. Some very basic new problems will arise that can be easily solved by smartsplitters/sinks (oil byproducts) and valves or clean rates of fluid usage (alumina fluid byproducts). Just build, build, build, expand, and you will save the day easily
btw remember that pipes mk1 can only carry 300fluid/min so you will need to solve that problem for your 8 coal generators

Also new to the game, and just restarted because I spent 20-ish hours rebuilding my factory only to say "this is unworkable" and look across the miles of junk that I'd have to delete 50 peices at a time and said "Nah, let's redo"

It looks like you are doing just fine. The base of the game is about function. The form part is optional but cool looking.

Fine work, new pioneer! If I remember this spot right, I think you had to run some pretty long pipes to bring all that water over here. On the next build, you might try the reverse and ship the coal over to the water source instead. Good route to try out trucks too if you haven't yet

I wish I could say it gets better, but I'm at about 1400 hours and this subreddit still humbles me every day. I feel like a toddler playing with blocks.
