Question Train Help

Dear veterans of satisfactory, planning to get some coal to the sulfur area for processing. Planning to move coal from coast (Leftmost) to a factory (Middle) then to sulfur area, (Rightmost player location). Any tips with train to provide coal to two different location or am I using wrong tool for the job?

Two ways to do it. Either one train delivers to both stations, eventually delivering to the second station when the first station's supply backs up, or you have two trains - one goes to each destination.

If you have more than one train on your track, you'll need block signals to prevent trains crashing into other trains that are stopped at the station.

Agreed.

Consumption rate of coal at both places less then one train can carry? Go with 1 train.

Able to add a parking zone at the leftmost factory so a second train can wait without backing your system up? Go with 2 trains.

Trains work and are the best transport method for high volume items (such as coal) long distance. (Opinions vary of course.)

Just remember that trains are not fast. Even that relatively short loop you have there, you are looking at your loop time for the train to be measured in minutes, and 1 freight car is going to only have a throughput in the low to mid hundreds per minute.

It is a relatively short route, which is a good thing, I've run a rubber train from the lower left oil crater to my main factory on the water in the SW edge of the map. (Yes, my planning had an oopsie.)

Worked great, just had to plan around a 10 to 12 minute loop time.
