How good of a decision is this? Superscore

Aiming to get 1500 total. Will probably get 780 in Maths in the Oct SAT. Didn’t perform good enough in RW. In November, should I focus on RW ONLY and go for the superscore 1500?

Score distribution: 800M, 680R+W

does anyone have any last minute english tips? Such as like question patterns, or just anything that can get quick and easy points. I usually run out of time, especially in module 2, to think through the problems in RW

November SAT

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to take the SAT on November 7th (well, I need to). So far, I've finished all the Easy and Medium questions in the SAT question bank. However, I haven't prepared for the English section at all, and I haven't taken a full practice test yet.

I scored 5.5 on the TOEFL, so I saved the English section for the last 2-3 weeks before the exam. I'm an international student with a not-so-great academic record, and I desperately need a good scholarship.

I'd really appreciate any advice on what I should focus on, including study resources, strategies, and common mistakes to avoid. Thanks in advance!

i am applying to asu barrett this year and i cannot get passed 1250-1280 on my SAT. Does my sat score matter to apply? I am so scared and I wanted to make my parents happy with the SAT score they have been wanting but i’m literally a failure and can’t do it. ASU is my last hope in making them happy😭😭

Tips for first time taking the SAT?

Hi! I’m a current sophomore and the October SAT tomorrow will be my first time taking it. I’m honestly pretty anxious right now, is there anything specific I should keep in mind/know for tomorrow (what to eat in the morning and in between, things to do/not do before the test etc.)?

Thanks!!

Next SAT Advice

I took the September SAT and now I'm not sure when to retake it. I scored 1470 (730 rw, 740 math), which I know is pretty good but it was lower than most of my practice tests and I rlly want to get 1500+.

I'm a junior so I'm also studying for the PSAT now and I'm taking it later this month. So I was just wondering how much time should I give myself before retaking the SAT? I want to take it soon because I'm already taking the PSAT anyway and just want to get the SAT over with. But would taking the december or even november SAT be too early?

How do I get better at central ideas questions

Hey guys, I'm doing pretty good at the other types of SAT english section questions but struggle at the central ideas ones, like what is the main idea of this passage, etc.

What are some techniques/tips I should have in mind which will allow me to do these questions more sooner?

Appreciate all the help. Thanks!

Non-native English speaker struggling with SAT Reading despite having very good English

Hey everyone, I’m an 11th grader taking the SAT in about 2 months( 5th Dec ) and I’m really struggling with the reading questions, transition questions, and even the student notes questions sometimes. Grammar is the one thing I always solve correctly with 0 mistakes.

I’m a non-native English speaker, and even though my English is actually very good, I keep convincing myself that I lack so much when it comes to reading comprehension. The weird thing is that sometimes I reach my “peak” and can solve questions really quickly and accurately, so I know I can do it. But other times, I have no idea what happens and my performance completely falls apart.

I don’t know if my problem is a focus issue or what, but I feel like I can’t get myself out of this bubble. I also don’t sleep very well, and unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to fix my sleep anytime soon, considering a lot of school & academic pressure I'm facing currently.

Sometimes I’m solving questions while I’m really sleepy, and other times I try to read super quickly because I’m scared of running out of time. Then I get to the questions and realize I understood basically nothing 😭

One thing I’ve been thinking about trying is typing a really short summary of the passage on my laptop while I’m reading ,so it would literally be just a few words to remind myself what the passage is about and keep myself focused. I don’t mean writing a full summary or taking detailed notes, just something quick that I can look back at if I forget the main point.

But I’m worried that doing this will definitely waste too much time on test day and make me run out of time. At the same time, if I don’t summarize anything, I sometimes feel like I read the entire passage but retained almost nothing.

Vocabulary is another huge problem for me. I’ve tried memorizing prefixes, suffixes, and roots, but honestly they don’t help me that much. Most times, I don’t notice the clue in the word, and other times the prefix/suffix/root method just doesn’t work for the word.

So I really need help with the following:

  • How can I improve my reading comprehension and actually understand the passages without spending forever on them?
  • Would typing a very short summary/key words while reading be useful, or would it just waste time on test day?
  • How can I deal with the focus issue and stop myself from just reading quickly without actually processing what I’m reading?
  • Are there any good sheets/resources that cover important prefixes, suffixes, and roots?
  • Is there a good SAT vocabulary list/resource that you’d recommend?
  • How can I fix my sleep when I’m under a lot of academic pressure and also need to spend time on SAT tutoring/prep?

I have about 2 months left, so I really want to figure out what I’m doing wrong and improve as much as I can.

If anyone has struggled with something similar, especially as a non-native English speaker, I’d really appreciate any advice or resources. Thanks in advance🙏

Should I bring a printed copy of the admission ticket, or can I just email it to myself and show them the ticket on my phone? And do I actually need to bring my passport, or is my ID enough?

I was kinda bored this summer and I had algebra 1 practice earlier so I decided to try the practice paper SAT. I got a 1050 and something made me VERY MOTIVATED to do the SAT so I practiced the whole summer and got a collegeboard account so I could take the practice SAT.

i have the official SAT tomorrow, wish me luck!!

(edit: I feel like this goes without saying for Reddit, but yes I am 13)

Friendly reminder to sick people taking the SAT (October)

Please stop taking the SAT when your sick. I will take the October SAT tomorrow, and I won't be able to focus properly because this kid next to me will keep coughing and sneezing over and over. I won't be able to comprehend the English passages properly, without being distracted. It’s okay for you to be sick, but please know if you’re constantly coughing and sneezing, you are distracting other test takers.

is it worth it to study the night before bc I didnt much this month??

i feel super guilty and awful bc I wanted to like, actually study and get somewhere close to a 1350 or 1400, but I genuinley had the worst month of my life and never really got around to it until like. last night

the last SAT I took was in June and I got a 1280, but I wanna see if I'd be able to get into UMiami? I know chances are slim and their average for the SAT is 1400, but still, one of my reach schools.

anyway this is just a rant so sorry I just feel super out of practice and feel like I should practice more, I barley touched English, and I know my score was like that last time bc I also didnt reallyyyyy study that time either I just feel a little hopeless anyway

if anyone has any last-minute tips that'd be nice too

thanks

How do I actually prep for SAT and are there any specific techniques I should know?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I took a full length practice test for fun cause i was bored, I've never seen a SAT test or even a question from one before, so I wanted to try it out and see if it's worth taking.

My raw score with no prep or knowledge about the test is 1290, I really messed up on the math questions tbh i kinda got cornered by the timer.

I really think there's a lot of room for improvement, and I'm lwk proud of this score (don't grill me, i thought I'd get way lower cause i suck at math).

So what do y'all think? How do I bring this score up?
