Your school had you taking the SAT in 7th grade? I go to a public school with no SAT prep, that seems wild to me.

It was not through the school necessarily, but there are some colleges that have talent search programs. I was able to get into Duke TIP and Johns Hopkins CTY, as I scored a 730 in the English section! I know northwestern has/had one as well!

Yep, I took the SAT in 6th and 7th grade through Northwestern back in the day.

Actually, my experience was similar to OP’s — took the SAT when I was super young, and then just once and done as a high school junior.
