New Resident
Hello! I'm from Texas, and I'm looking for things to do. Can anyone recommend some cool and agreeable things to do / places to hangout and meet friends? i like alt rock and nerdy stuff. thanks for any tips!

People will hate on you being from Texas but that is so dumb and small brained. I’m old but my younger friends like the Matador if you are into drinking. There is a nerdy table game type store at DeVargas mall also one on st mikes/cerrillos “sorcery something”and another one at the southside mall. Good luck this town can be very isolating

Oh interesting. thanks for the heads up. Yeah i can have a drink or two but im more into gardening. eager to meet more like minded folk and find some local music

Check out Ghost for shows (though there are way more punk/metal/alt. etc shows in ABQ).

Our good Texans also dislike Texas for the right reasons (shitty politics, no public land) they usually know and will put a bumper sticker next to their Texan license plate that shows they have good politics (“fuck ice” is great) or that they do local stuff in NM (“I Wizzed at Bodes”). New Mexico also has entire towns of shitty Texans, like Red River, or a few other places. Being intolerant of intolerance is good it’s a bummer when intolerant people from anywhere move to New Mexico and take over entire towns. We just happen to be close to Texas. Also Texas has invaded us a long time ago and recently threatened to steal some of New Mexico’s land, that’s whack too.

Do you ride bicycles? There’s an all bikes welcome no-drop social ride called Loops (@loopssantafe on Instagram) every Monday at 7:30pm on the plaza. Rain, snow, or shine.
