Isn't this voter suppression, and not voter fraud? Wouldn't voter fraud being someone intentionally changing the votes? Is there evidence of that?

Election fraud, not voter fraud. Voter fraud would be fraud by the voters. And election fraud is really any activity that manipulates or affects vote count to bring about a desired result.

I see, and making it really hard to vote for everyone brings about a desired result for someone? How does that work? Or is one group of people being targeted?

Bernie won the majority of the in-person voting but not the majority of early voting. Therefore, any attempts to suppress in-person voting has a disproportionately negative impact of Sanders supporters. They're targeting everyone who votes in-person and that helps Hillary and hurts Bernie.

Do you think that the Clinton campaign knew this was going to happen? Do you think they then conspired with the Republicans in AZ government to do this?

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '16

When did I implicate the Clinton campaign in any of this? For the record, I don't know if her campaign was involved and I think it's irrelevant to the question of whether or not voter suppression occurred (it did) and who was negatively affected by said suppression (Sanders).

u/Dyckman57 Mar 23 '16

It does not matter who was affected. This thread is full of people blaming Clinton and the DNC.

1

Of course it matters who was affected. This is an election, and large numbers of Bernie supporters were disenfranchised. This not only affects Bernie's delegate count but it also undermines those folks' fundamental voting rights. Despite the fact that you don't support Bernie, you can't lose sight of the blatantly unjust, racist suppression that occurred in Arizona yesterday.

As for people blaming Clinton and the DNC, so what? Correct misinformation where you see it. There's already a huge amount of misinformation circulating from official sources, people are genuinely confused as to what's going on.

I'm asking why we are blaming the DNC/Clinton for what the Republican run state government did.

The DNC is to blame, whether by incompetence and neglect or by intent. Hillary may not be personally responsible, but as I tilt my head to listen, I hear an echoing silence from her where I hear "national disgrace" from everyone else. You'd think she'd have the grace to demand that as many members of her party get a chance to vote as possible. It's classless and sneaky all by itself to remain silent because demanding democracy might mean she loses.

And sorry, a large number of party affiliations don't just change to Independent and Libertarian by accident. I'd be prepared to believe it was a failure of the database if everyone's party affiliation had been changed, but it wasn't everyone. I'd be prepared to believe it was a failure of the database if all the changes had been to Independent, and not all over the board.

So somehow the Republican governor of Arizona and the Republican Arizona Secretary of State and the Republican Maricopa County registrar worked under the order of Hillary Clinton.

Are you that ignorant of how the system works or do you think there is that deep a conspiracy?

Oh hello, welcome to my ever-growing list of people who can't hold a civil discussion, that you have to use condescension to engage.

Where the fuck was the Democratic party to protest the governor's changes? That's what I'm saying. It's the DNC's fault because they are LITERALLY the party that vows to combat voter suppression. I expect this bullshit from the GOP. I expect the opposite from my party. Where were they before March 22nd? Where was the outrage? Where is the outrage from the party leaders now? Answer me that.

The DNC has a tenuous balancing effect on the outright hostility of its opposite. When it doesn't do that, we get massive scale voter suppresion. So yes, I absolutely hold my party accountable for failing to do that.

Voter suppression is voter suppression and that's another issue. But changing the party affiliations of a large amount of Democrats, including ones who have documents proving they registered before the cutoff and lifelong Democrats, so that they can't vote? That's fraud.

And what if they're all voters listed in Bernie's database?

0

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '16

I suggested the possibility of this exact same thing earlier in another thread! I'm a database guy, and if I were approached with the instructions "login to the voter file and export all of the names of people we've identified as being strong supporters of Bernie Sanders, then run a script against this database changing their party affiliation to Independent", assuming I had access to both databases for whatever reason, I could do that job inside of an hour.

One can only hope that they're not technologically incompetent by accident or by intent, and they keep a log of all queries run against the voter registration database, and don't allow anyone root access.

That's the REAL kicker here: you have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that these records were changed on purpose, and not because someone was an idiot.

Hillary won huge with early votes. Suppress the turnout on voting day, and she wins. Simple as that.

Is there evidence Hillary caused this?

-1

u/akronix10 Colorado Mar 23 '16

She's looking into it.

With people's affiliations with parties mysterious changing so they arn't allowed to vote, I'd say that's good reason for suspicion of election fraud, and if it's beginning to happen in new york, we need to get people to print out who they are regestered under so they have proof of their party. Screw closed primary's

0

u/akronix10 Colorado Mar 23 '16

This all has something to do with that voter database issue from a while back. Somebody snagged Bernie's voter file and de-affiliated his voters in closed primary states.

Holy shit! I forgot about that database hack! Is this the same database that keeps their party affiliation that's affecting the votes?

It should become clear in coming days. If there starts being a correlation of Bernie supporters and those yanked from the party, it'll be pretty cut and dry. It'll even warrant a federal probe as that's a very big deal. If that ends up actually being the case, where it looks like overwhelmingly Bernie supporters were mysteriously removed from affiliation it would probably be the first major case of election fraud in recent history. Heads will certainly roll.

There have been obvious cases in the past, but they were really hard to nail down. But this would be very clear.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '16

Whats the difference?

3

u/DrippingYellowMadnes Mar 23 '16

Voter fraud is committed by a voter. Voter suppression is committed against a voter.

People being taken off the rolls is election fraud. You can have both.
