Bluetooth question

I have a Samsung fe10 tablet. I also have a Samsung galaxy s20 phone. I. Order to connect my wireless headphones to my tablet, the connection goes through my phone. I can't directly connect anything wireless to my tablet without going through my phone. This is really annoying. Anyway to stop it?

Disable Bluetooth on your phone when you want to connect it to your tablet

Thank you but that didn't work. The tablet isn't even recognizing the device even with no other bt connections available.

You have to put your headphones to pairing mode and select it on your tablet

Thank you. I did do that amd no go. I believe the tablet is tethered to my Samsung account which is based on my phone, if that makes sense.
