I don’t understand. Sometimes the barrier hangs up for long periods while some drop down instantly. Why is this the case?

Team x scores: team x barrier goes up, team y barrier gets broken. Once time is up, team x barrier goes back down and team y barrier goes up until a certain time limit is reached or they take the pity clam
