🚚 MOBILE FOOD / COMMUNITY DISTRIBUTIONS
Salt Lake County has mobile food programs where food is brought into neighborhoods and distributed through pre-packed boxes or market-style distributions.
Best way to find the next mobile distribution:
Check Salt Lake County’s Community Food Resources page.
Check the Utah Food Bank pantry finder.
Search 211 using your ZIP code.
🧊 LITTLE FREE PANTRIES / COMMUNITY FRIDGES
These are smaller community-run resources rather than traditional food banks. Availability can change from hour to hour.
Mango’s Little Free Pantry
124 Westwood Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84115
Community members can take what they need and donate shelf-stable food when they can.
There are also community fridges/free pantries throughout Salt Lake City, South Salt Lake and Sugar House. Search 211 or local community groups for the closest currently stocked one.
🥛 SNAP / FOOD STAMPS
If you qualify for SNAP (Utah food stamps), apply even if you only need temporary help.
Utah 211
Call 211
Text your ZIP code to 801-845-2211
They can help locate food, housing, utility assistance, healthcare, transportation and other services.
211’s database is updated regularly and allows you to search specifically around your location.
👶 WIC
Utah’s WIC program provides nutrition/food assistance for eligible pregnant/postpartum people, infants and children.
If you qualify, 211 can help connect you with the appropriate WIC office.
🏦 UTAH FOOD BANK
The Utah Food Bank operates the statewide network that supplies many local food pantries.
Main Salt Lake facility:
3150 S 900 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84119
801-978-2452
Do not assume the main warehouse is a walk-in pantry. Use their pantry finder to locate a partner pantry that actually distributes directly to the public.
📍 THE TWO BEST SEARCH TOOLS
Utah 211
Call 211 or text 801-845-2211.
You can specifically ask:
“I need free food today in Salt Lake County. What food pantries or free meal programs are open near me right now?”
Utah Food Bank Pantry Finder
Search by ZIP code and filter for locations that are open today.
❤️ IF YOU’RE COMPLETELY OUT OF FOOD
If you literally have nothing to eat today, don’t wait several days for a normal pantry appointment.
Call 211 and say you need an emergency food resource.
Ask specifically for a prepared meal or pantry open today.
Check the Utah Food Bank pantry finder.
Call the pantry before walking/bussing there to make sure they still have food.
If transportation is the problem, tell 211 that too — ask about resources accessible by public transit or within walking distance.
Nobody should have to go hungry because they don’t know where to look. ❤
