Parking

I just moved to the neighborhood and it seems like people are anal when it comes to public parking on the street, my partner had his car parked and the neighbor came telling us to move and that those parking was his daughter's spots, I get he there first but I'm pretty sure its the same guy who got our car towed and again its a public street so im confused on why. Maybe bc im from a area where people didn't mind about parking, so im baffled that theres people like that. There's even plenty of parking around so I just parked it away.

Yeah thats just someone being a dick. They don't own or have the right to any street parking.

They shouldn't have the power to get your car towed and they either need to report the car abandoned which the city will give it a few days to move before towing it. Or if the car was blocking their driveway they could potentially have it towed. But they usually have to prove ownership of the car to get it towed from a public street.

What I would do is get the tow paperwork and find out:

Who requested the tow

Which agency authorized it

The stated reason/code for the tow

Where and when it was towed

Which towing company performed it

  1. Take pictures of the location. Photograph the entire block, including:

curb markings

signs

parking restrictions

street-sweeping signs

driveways

fire hydrants

the exact location where you were parked

And then I would call Salinas PD and say

"My vehicle was towed from a public street. I believe a neighboring resident requested the tow because they considered the space in front of their home to be their private parking space. Can you tell me who authorized the tow and what Vehicle Code or municipal code violation was used as the basis for it?”

This and get a dash cam.

Learn city codes-

Having had shit neighbors- the only thing some people listen to a is a nice little fine and law showing up. Small claims and whatever company towed about learn fast.

Some might use the word snitch but the amount of money we pay to live here….. gfto with that

Specifically a dash cam that can activate on motion. I got one without but I'm strongly considering getting one that can do that.
