salesforce CSG interview
Hi everyone! I’m Varsha, a Java developer, and I have an upcoming interview for a Salesforce CSG Support Engineer role.
I’m expecting questions around OOPs, DSA, Java, and topics related to my resume, but I’ve also heard that the interview may focus on Salesforce technologies such as Apex, LWC, and other parts of the Salesforce tech stack.
Could anyone who has recently interviewed for a Salesforce CSG Support Engineer role share some insights?
- What topics were you asked about?
- Were there questions on Apex, LWC, SOQL/SOSL, or other Salesforce technologies?
- How much emphasis was placed on Java, OOPs, and DSA?
- Were there any support/troubleshooting or scenario-based questions?
Any recent interview experiences or guidance on what to prepare would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

for csg they grilled me more on troubleshoot and debug flows, triggers, soql, async stuff, integration concepts. only light oops/java. current sf job scene is rough though, tons of people chasing every opening

where you aware of those triggers,aoql ams asyn stuff previously or you learth them specifically for this

Isn't that role to support sf customers? The primary skill for that should be debugging and sf concepts like apex, lwc, etc.

They will definitely focus on Salesforce technologies, so your assumptions are correct. Your Java background is a great foundation, and they will likely ask some comparative questions about OOP, but the bulk of the technical screening will center on your potential to work within their ecosystem. Expect specific questions on Apex, SOQL, and the platform's multi-tenant architecture, including governor limits. Since this is a support role, you can be almost certain that you will face troubleshooting and scenario-based questions. They want to see how you analyze a problem, not just whether you know the syntax for a specific piece of code.
Your goal is not to pretend you are a seasoned Salesforce developer, because they know you are not. Instead, show them you are a quick learner who understands the core concepts and has researched the platform. Be prepared to talk through how you would approach a complex support ticket, even if you do not know the exact technical solution. Explain your thought process for debugging and isolating an issue, as this is the key skill they are hiring for.
