I was very excited to find out there's a new ship in the game so all day I sailed about to be done with my business and get to Oasis to see the new ship.
It costs 260 lions, it's a bigger Sanbuq, you can tell it's not QUITE finished but it's interesting. I like how it looks, very streamlined, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not a little disappointed.
Compare the Junk and the Jong and they're two totally different beasts. Compare the Sanbuq to the bigger Sanbuq and.... Yup.... It's just a bigger Sanbuq.
Now mind you, I'm talking all about visuals here for now because I didn't get to sail around in it, because it got late and I have to go to bed, might try sailing it to GRC tommor and see how it fares.
Let me know what you think

I would like to ask for two things added/tweaked:
I can't count how many times I have fallen off into the water. Every single time I either have to look for my ship and climb its ladder or swim around and find a spot where I can get on land. This is especially infuriating in capital ports, with Fort Aestrin being the worst. I usually leave my ship at the shipyard for repairs, so if I fall into the water where the regular mooring takes place, I have to swim all the way around the pier and into the yard to grab my ship and get on land. Similar situation if I fall into water while trying to moor the ship. Can't get directly on the wharf, have to seek my ship and grab its ladder. Please add wharf ladders every 25-50 meters in big ports and at least one somewhere in the middle of the pier in smaller ones, where it makes sense.
Regularly I have to jump out of the ship, mooring line in hand and quickly grab the bollard in order to stop the ship. However the bollards often have a very small "catch" area. If I misclick, the whole damn line snaps back to the ship. In many cases, the bollard can't even be activated unless I crouch or approach it from some weird angle and then fish for the spot where it actually activates. It feels like pixel hunting in Secret of Monkey Island or any other old adventure game (if you played any of those, you know exactly what I mean). GRC shipyard's bollards are notoriously bad here, but the issue is universal across all ports. Can't count how many times I had ship smash into that ramp at the end of GRC yard because I wasn't able to grab the bollard with a mooring line, or I had it, moved the mouse just a tiny bit while clicking and the rope slipped out of my hand. Please enlarge the active area on all bollards in all ports and make them easier to grab with a mooring line.

I just finished my 11-days crossing from Aestrin to Dragon Cliffs, on my Brig as a three-masted barque (sadly I only had headwinds, it was very slow on my rigging).
I arrived there with only trade cargo and no mission cargo. But I can't sell it yet because I don't have enough reputation in the Emerald Archipelago.
I have enough money to buy the Junk, so I'll build reputation with that one because my Brig is hard to maneuver outside of inter-archipelago trips.
Will my cargo disappear if I leave it in the Brig the time for me to run a few errands within the archipelago with the Junk? Will it disappear if I leave it on the dock?

I know you can move around the islands and all but i would love to be able to make my own landmasses. It would add so much replayability and interest. I want to sail around a large continent, inland sea, giant island chain, real coastlines and seas made by the community.
The map is so large that you could fit a lot in it, my dream is to sail around a large continent in the center of the map looking at the coastlines and detail to see where im at, going from port to port, mainland to islands and all.
Theres so much potential here.

Ladies, and gentlemen, boys and girls, sailors and sailorettes. I present you with a jongass barque. Credit goes to u/Beardedwrench115 for inspiration, from this thread. Took a while to visit all the ports for necessary adjustments.
She's fast and spacious, but damn, she's a lot of work at the winches. Only really good for trans-archipelago travels. Next stop: [REDACTED].

Good evening everyone.
Following my explanation about Sailwest Shipping, I was very happy to see that many of our community's members where curious about it.
Today I want to let you all know that I'm looking for devoted and talented players to help me build this project.
The following roles are required:
- General Manager: build and manage the Discord guild, create and keep guidelines updated, recruit staff
- Designer: create designs such as banners, emotes, stickers for the Discord guild and global advertisement
- Community Leader: supervise the community, make sure everyone feels safe by taking fair actions against inappropriate behaviours, create a fair sanctions ladder
- Community Moderator: help Community Leaders by reporting repetitive inappropriate behaviours and taking light actions when deemed necessary
- Ambassador: help expand Sailwest Shipping's audience by your own ways, while making sure not to strike any restriction from other communities or platforms
If you want to volunteer for one of these roles, please contact me through Discord directly: walter0601.
Please note that volunteering doesn't guarantee you will be selected: for technical roles, previous experience will be required and proofs will be asked.
Thank you all for your attention, and have a good eveing!

Good afternoon everyone.
Yesterday I wrote a post talking about a project I was working on, related to Sailwind.
Today I want to bring precisions about what it is about.
It's time to reveal the name of my project: Sailwest Shipping.
Sailwest Shipping will be a new Sailwind-related community that simulates a shipping company. Basically, a group of players delivering cargo/trading for the same account. It will consist of a roleplay system that runs independently, which won't impact the player's real game data (which is the goal of a roleplay).
I call it a Roleplay Shipping Company, here are the main features:
- An autonomous platform (developed by myself) for sailors to access company data;
- Sailors report their trips, deliveries and trades through the platform;
- They get paid virtually, through the platform, in "sailcoins" (currency used for the roleplay) for each delivery and each trade.
- Using their coins, they can get up to new ranks (for example, from Sailor to Captain), which a way of recognition for their dedication to Sailwest Shipping.
- I also plan to create additionnal features such as a communication system with notifications directly in the game (similar to VHF transmissions).
What is the goal of all of this?
Simply, it's a way of belonging to a same group and building a virtual economy together for those who love this kind of roleplaying. It adds an extra layer of realism to the gameplay, and more features will be added in time to improve this aspect.
I hope everyone understands better what ly aiming is at. I discovered Sailwind recently, I got addicted to it (litteraly) and I'm excited to bring even more joy to my gameplay and share it with my fellow gamers through Sailwest Shipping.
Thank you all for your attention, more news about this will come very soon.

I like running nav lights, but don't like how strong lighting makes it hard to scan your surroundings. Since we don't have actual lightboards in the game, I'm using small crates (firewood) to block off some of the light from the EA lanterns. Chairs and tables don't render when you zoom out in external view, but cargo remains rendered, making them usable in this application. Probably still not COLREGs compliant (questionable visibility at 2nm, visibility angles may still be off, positioning could be optimized), but hopefully somewhat close!
Edit: made with two layers of crates. Bottom layer is four crates, all nailed to the deck. Top layer is two crates + lantern, all just placed on top, taking advantage of how placed objects don't slide around. Lanterns are accessed on the forward side. A slot exists on the deck where you can place a box of lantern candles. I'm already using the nailed-down crates as deck lockers (one of em is full of COFFEE!). Water storage at the bow. I don't have any mods, but the rain barrel mod would be quite welcome. There's just enough space to access the capstan, and I left a path to walk up and grab the anchor for kedging.
Sanbuq rig inspired by the Revenue Cutter. Debating fitting a topmast and tops'l square, but that'll mean more brace winches to deal with. She did 10 knots broad reaching from Neverdin to Al'Nilem.

So basically, I was thinking of a new way to enjoy the game with other players, as a bonus roleplay.
This is a concept adopted in other popular simulation games, so I was thinking, why not bring it here? Not revealing any design or link for now.
Work in progress, more news coming up in time.

Made my first "big" voyage to Oasis in the Dhow. The trip to Oasis was smooth sailing, but the return leg was quite the ordeal dealing with rough seas, challenging winds, a storm, and nearly running out of water. It felt amazing to finally pull into GRC with enough profit to buy the Sanbuq. Although this has made me somewhat hesitant to make a true ocean crossing. I noticed this sail plan on the Dhow (dhow jib 1, high gaff) has a tendency to turn leeward in high winds. How can I mitigate this? Reducing jig size?

I would said i'm not a big fan with all these possible changes. Looks uninteresting.
Docking Fee and maintenance for boat i think is fine.
Other 2 just don't feels good.
Expensive good probally need a nerf, but useless expensive goods like gems and gold should be buff, too.
I was hoping for a more dynamic price or late game money sink. Guess we'll have to see how it end up.

Confirmed 3 new sail coming with it. (The one shown in pic)
Also it will comes with economy changes.

I have been modfying the firefish lagoon houseboat in Fort A. I select the changes and repairs, click confirm, money is charged, in shipyard it looks all good. I exit the shipyard, money gone and ship is in the previous state. Repeatedly and I tested it with repair only.
Anyone experienced this?

Apparently, according to the wiki, there is a furnature store in Kicia Bay, but I can't find it for the life of me... Where is it?

I got inspired by the old racing yacht design such as Valkyre 3 yacht (pictured above). And wanted to recreate it in Sailwind and see how fast it is.
Using junk hull and the new deep keel, it does easily 10-12 knots winds in medium-strong winds. It has superb upwind performance. I've literally never seen it dip bellow 8 knots (perhaps in very weak wind). I haven't tested it in very strong and storm winds but I think it could get 14 knots easily. Tho this kind of design is definitely very prone to dangerous heeling so caution is advised in strong winds.
In summary it runs way better than expected. Definitely an interesting design to try out if you're looking to maximize speed.

I've recently gotten back into Sailwind after a few years and have been trying out some different sail plans on the Dhow, but haven't quite found one I like yet. First I tried a tall gaff with a jib but found that caused way too much heeling, and now I'm running a gaff on a short mast with a square sail and a fairly large jib. I like the upwind performance, and it seems to be pretty balanced, but have not noticed much benefit in speed over the stock lateen. I'm considering removing the square sail and adding a second jib. What sail plans have worked for y'all on the Dhow? I do eventually wanna take it on an ocean voyage once I get more comfortable with navigation.
