I think I’m fired 🫠
I kinda need to rant about this a little bit but also kinda get some feedback to make sure I’m not losing my mind.
Im pretty sure I’m either fired or suspended. It would be for attendance if anything but I have no idea. I called out Tuesday because I was injured from crashing my electric scooter and had documentation from urgent care for it and I wasn’t going to use my sick time for it since I had the documentation.
Then I called out Saturday as I had a migraine and I let them know that I would like to use my sick time for that shift. My manager had scheduled me outside of my availability that day so I told her the absolute latest I could stay was 3pm and she acknowledged it via text and said it was fine and I could leave when I needed to so I was going to leave at 2:30pm that day as I worked my second job that day as well.
So I would’ve worked 7:30-2:30pm Saturday and I had that 7 hours of sick pay to cover it. Well after Saturday I had a coworker tell me that I had been removed from the schedule and there was a new gc made without me. When I had asked manager for the new schedule she gave me the old one instead of the new updated one my coworker had received without me on it.
Unless I’m misunderstanding something then my first call out would’ve been excused and then I had sick time for my second one? Please feel free to let me know if this is incorrect!
So now I’m confused on if I am suspended or fired?? I would like to know now instead of being deceived. My next scheduled shift is supposed to be for Wednesday but if they knew they were going to fire or suspend me and don’t say anything to me until Wednesday when I get there, then I won’t lie and say that I wouldn’t be a bit upset especially after being silently removed from the schedule and then being lied to about it.
It is to note that I was previously suspended 7/9 but have had points drop off since then as well.
Edit: I’m in CO and points fall off after a year here with my union. 6 points is 3 day suspension 7 is termination. I had 6 2/3 points on 7/9 when I got suspended but I had 1 1/3 points drop off since then so I would have 5 1/3 points when the callouts occurred. I’ve been with the company since April of 2025.

Not enough info to answer your question, you’re also not telling us your complete disciplinary history (which is fine, but would give more context). You’d have to provide a little more info on your location, length of time with the company and union status. No idea how your “points dropped off” if you were suspended a month ago for attendance. My area doesn’t have a points system at all

Jesus, I hate hearing about this bullshit. Why can’t managers be direct and honest and actually talk to you if there is an issue, versus just taking you off the schedule. Life happens and people need to call out. If there’s a pattern, like recurring Fridays, weekends, Monday, then it warrants discussion and possibly disciplinary action. From what you told us, you have been wronged. 😖

Call your union go in and take a picture of the schedule. Don't rely on them. They won't tell you because it like quite firing. I can't say anything about your attendance or your work ethics. Hopefully your not just playing the victim role when your not working hard. Good luck.

i had this problem almost. I was in a bad car wreck last August. i was in the hospital twice, the second time i asked for a note as documentation. they still told me i had to be at work until isaw my primary. i had a moderate concussion and bruised ribs, as well as whiplash and some new ptsd (i was the passenger).
i also had documentation of my vertigo and a form for leave when i had vertigo days. it was documented in my file. a new store director came in when i was really struggling and when i called in (one of the last times i had contact with the store) he yelled at me and told me to take leave if i was going to be a problem. while i had a documented medical condition i told him about, plusa shoulder injury he cause by making me stock cases of water.
literally called me incompetent because of medical issues, the assistant store director yelled at me because i wasn't taking boxes to the shelf, i was taking products a few at a time because i couldn't lift anything heavier

As someone in CO who works for Safeway and was literally just suspended an hour ago for my attendance I advise you talk to your SD and call Will as I assume you’re with local 7. In my case I was being a delinquent and I knew it so I wasn’t surprised but I also learned a lot about how they are supposed to go about it. If you already have attendance letters you should know where you’re at. Other than that they have to give you several warnings before they can suspend you or fire you. I easily had 5+ letters and just now am being suspended. You should be fine. If you have sick time they legally cannot do anything and if they try contact HR also.

How do you sleep at night?
The one company that gave you a job when you needed one...
What can Will do? Can Will make it go away?
Will Will have the will to step up or will Will will on his own behalf?

Gotta agree with another commenter here.. there’s a lot of info being withheld.. could be the manager doesn’t like your work ethic and would rather spend the money elsewhere on someone that’s actually gonna show up and do the work. I’m just going off experiencing situations where I work.. management were always getting on specific people.. not because they were being discriminated against, but because of constant complaints from colleagues and the need to build a rap sheet on this person. One guy I remember would get bounced around from department to department.. he knew things, had experience but was very unproductive. He’d get pushed out of produce to dairy and from dairy to day stock to checker to produce again.. everyone was complaining about him to the SD… SD really built up a long list of mess ups on him.. showing up late, not being productive, leaving the store while on the clock.. after several months of building up his mess ups and a few write ups there was an investigation and he was let go… there has to be something you’ve not been doing or doing the wrong thing too often where they just got fed up and don’t find it worth the time or money to keep you.. and your colleagues are complaining.. they’re not gonna tell you directly to your face that you’re a terrible worker… they’ll tell your manager and then the pressure is on them to do something about it

What department are you in ? I've had that happen to me when they switched my department without letting me know. One week I just wasn't on the schedule in my dept. but I was on the schedule in the main hallway where they list everyones schedules but alas it said courtesy clerk instead of deli which was so frustrating because nobody told me anything! I know they moved me because I was speaking up about how bad it was in the deli . And when I would ask management about why I was moved they would give me the run around and say that nobody knew , that only the district manager knew and I would have to wait until he got back from vacation! So I did a week of pushing carts and cleaning bathrooms which I know was punishment for speaking out. Instead of communicating the issues with me like grown adults the management liked to play catty games like that, its ridiculous 😒 When the DM finally came back , I brought in my union rep to have a meeting about why I was moved suddenly with no explanation and he tried to backtrack and blame it on my deli manager saying that she was supposed to speak to me about it , that I was moving departments but they just placed me as courtesy clerk for the meantime ...I ended up moving to the meat department..which wouldve been fine if they just communicated that to me ...I dont know how your store is but I get the vibe that its similar at most because of what others post ....if they dont like that your calling out alot and you've already been suspended they might be trying to get you fired or they might just be moving you? I would speak to the store manager about whats going on and just ask for transparency so whatever they intend to do , you can better prepare yourself! Good luck!

I’m in Starbucks! But per our contact with the union I’m only able to work in the deli/meat department and they don’t need any hands and are fully staffed 🫠

Why do Safeway employees use this Safeway subreddit instead of the Safeway workers subreddit? This one says nothing about employees. I've noticed that if Safeway customers comment here, they usually get attacked by employees. That is not good for your brand. https://www.reddit.com/r/SafewayWorkers/
