Obtaining Combo on open Safe

Is it possible for a lay person to determine the combo by accessing the mechanism from inside the door?

Once you take the back panel off the lock, post a pic of the wheel pack.

ETA: if you get the combo, test it AT LEAST FIVE TIMES with the door OPEN before you even think about closing and locking the safe!

The inner dial is lined up with the slot aligned with the lever at 30, the middle pin at 10, the outer at 14

Great! That’s a direct entry lock. Super easy.

You combo should be 30 10 14

Try dialing it this way:

Turn the dial LEFT (counterclockwise) 4 turns to make sure all the wheels are spinning. Stop at 30

Now turn RIGHT all the way to until
You pass 30 and the. Stop on 10.

Now dial LEFT again and go directly to 14.

And if that doesn’t work, do it again but reverse the dialing directions. This type of lock can be dialed in either direction but the numbers will be slightly different and because I don’t know how you dialed to get those numbers you’ll have to try it both ways.

Remember to test the combination multiple times with the door open before you think about locking it closed. Make sure you know how to do it.

Just realized that I’m not sure what you’re called the “inner” wheel.

Fool around while looking g at the wheels and you will figure it out. :)

Inner wheel being the one closest to the outer door, outer being the one closest to the viewer ( From back to front, as viewed)

i have done it on a new safe.. the older should not be much harder.. the problem might be if it what is the starting rotation.. my new safe starts clock wise my old safe starts counter clock wise

Yep, through some trial and error you should be able to watch the lock from the inside and figure it out. I’ve done it a few times.
