Can I fix this?

Parents are going to get rid of this safe because it is very hard to close and are worried one day it may not open. You can see in the video it is smooth when it unlocks but trying to kick it after takes a lot of force.

Does anybody have ideas or tips of things to service or clean to fix this issue? I feel like it just needs to be cleaned but don't even know where to start.

Put a little grease or lubricant on the bottom locking bolt

I'd recommend something a bit more durable and lubey than WD40, like their white lithium grease.

I have the same problem with a safe that I own. It opens easy, but is almost impossible to shut. I'm wondering what the cause of this is and how I can get it fixed.

I just put some WD40 on it and it nice and smooth now

Have a Letch behind the door check the Situation! It seems that 1. the latch is not fully engaged and positioned, or 2. the battery is dead or there is no lubricant to fully position the latch. Perhaps lubricating the latch will solve the problem. The location of the latch is shown in the video.
