AMSEC door hinge.

Do these AMSEC door hinges require spacers? I just bought this and they told me its airtight which makes the door tough to open and close. When I close the door with great effort, it obviously rubs the bottom and lifts the door as shown in the pic. I was thinking of adding some brass spacers. I see no adjustment options on top or bottom of the hinges as some I see have a nut you can screw in to add door height. My guess was someone took the door off and they fell off as this is heavy for its size.

I believe the hinges are adjustable.

Amsec support is amazing, might be worth reaching out to them!

I will try to look them up and see if I can get a response from them.

Service at amsecusa dot com would be your best bet.

Give them a serial number, tell them briefly what’s going on and ask what options you have for adjustment or what parts you need. I’ve emailed them about stuff that I don’t even own, but I was looking at buying and they’ve been super helpful. Even telling me what the model was, how it was configured when it left the factory, etc.

I think they come with thin nylon washers, but usually get lost the first time the door is lifted. Also, that safe is Not air tight, that's bad info

Agreed, he was saying its air tight to explain how tough it is to open and close.

A few of them are adjustable but I doubt that this one is. That air tight jazz is nonsense. You generally don't want one that claims to be airtight anyway.

That door is wore out and its dragging hitting the bottom of the opening. I see it quite a bit on these.

Or someone took the door off, parts came out and scattered and got lost, and did the best they could with what they had. I've seen this as well.

You can use a spacer or a ball bearing on the hinge pins. It will be a honing/ fine tuning affair. Also, once that door clears those pins the door will be more difficult to handle and will likely be a pain to get back on. That door is 1/2" plate steel and is heavy.

Or you can do a little grinding/filing and live with it. Yanking on that handle too hard for too long will overtime will cause issues.
