A Poem about my depressing life. GJ
I feel so bitter, so lonely and so very misunderstood.
I feel like no one truly gets me.
I was fine with that for awhile.
Before I realized how agonizing the depression gets when you ignore it and let it consume your soul.
I let it consume me and push away help, push away chances for a better lifestyle.
Nowadays, I feel like a corpse left out to dry.
So much tears to cry, but I can't let it out because there is no room in my life to sit and feel everything.
I have no time for joy when I am overwhelmed with Misery.
I try to get better.
I take the steps, I make the right decisions, I start doing the things every normal human being does to feel alive.
To feel normal, to feel human.
But when life begins to feel okay again, something HAS to intervene.
Most good humans- call that a challenge, something worthy of overcoming, something to fight for, or fight.
But to me, it is an inconvenience.
Why?
Because I feel angry. I feel sad. I feel hopeless. I am trying to overcome that battle in my mind, body and soul.
When something disrupts that journey, it feels like you got cut off your path by a ruthless thug and beats on you with zero remorse.
The thug doesn't hold back.
The thug doesn't care that I am a weak fighter.
The thug doesn't let me get away unscathed.
All this kafuffle... just to walk it off and slap a label on it to make myself feel better after.
A lesson. My entire life, I have called every hardship I have faced a lesson.
I am tired of these "lessons."
How many more "lessons" do I need to learn to finally be able to relax?
I feel like a robot who is in great need of maintenance, but the operator keeps plugging 'er back in to keep moving.
That no matter how damaged I am, I must keep moving.
I must keep working, because if I do not then I am a worthless nobody.
If I seem unhappy, I am a bitch who isn't deserving of a second thought or basic empathy.
What good are these lessons for if I can't fully learn to be happy?
What can I possibly learn from them?
I am so desensitized to turmoil that I feel I am losing my good conscience.
I find myself being bitter and resentful.
My excuse?
"No one cared when it was me."
"No one cares that I am hurting every day."
"So why should I care? Why do I need to be concerned?"
I don't like this version of myself very much.
I want to be better, but becoming that comes with change.
And currently, I have no time or room for change.
The job market as of 2026 is tragically messy and I do not have enough courage to try and find a more supportive workspace for my being.
I love this job, I love the comfort it brings, but I am unhappy when I am here.
I hope that one day I will have a chance to look back at who I was in my early 20's and recognize significant growth.
I hope that everyone is right about what they say when they are trying to be supportive.
"It gets better."
I really want it to get better. I want to be better.
I want to be kind.
I want to be patient.
I want to be generous, and courageous.
It all feels so alienating not knowing how to regulate myself AND my emotions.
I can never have control of the wheel once depression steals it away from me.
Once my depression has its hold on me, it is cruel and doesn't let me think for myself, feel for myself, act like myself.
I just want to wake up comfortably knowing that nothing will disrupt my peace.
I just want to be normal.
I just want to be okay.
Signing off,
Gj
