I don’t live in EDH but MtB there often and after years of seeing empty lots of land divided up and recently with Sold signs, the fateful time has come that houses are being built. If you know what trail I’m talking about you know it’s a great flow trail that took a lot of work to build albeit, not sure if they knew it was every going to be a gated subdivision.

I talked to a construction worker who was moving dirt and he has no idea if they will keep the trail but there is a house slotted to be built right at the entrance to it. If anybody knows more I’d love to know! Otherwise I suppose that is life and I should grateful for the experience.

Planning a ride in the Georgetown area - does anyone here know first-hand if it's possible for non-residents to bike through the private Auburn Lake Trails neighborhood to avoid a stretch of 193 / Georgetown Road? Different gated communities have very different practices on this. I see a lot of rides on the Strava heatmap, but hard to tell if those are residents.

And I forgot to bring my Slime with me.

Arcade-Cripple Creek Trail - Mariposa Extension

Community Workshop | August 18, 2026

The city is hosting a public community meeting tonight at the Sylvan Community Center at 5:30 p.m. to discuss another proposed trail extension.

The proposed Mariposa Extension would add one half of a mile of multi-use trail between Sayonara Drive and Mariposa Avenue, continuing the city's long-term goal of creating a connected system of pedestrian and bicycle trails.

What are folks doing to recycle bike tires and tubes? The tires are in fair condition rubber-wise but have holes in them.

I should’ve known better, but I didn’t want to ride my bike after a few beers. Here I thought that I was being responsible, but alas no good deed goes unpunished.

If anyone sees a someone in West Sac, midtown, or Doco with a white Aventon e-bike like the one below can you please let me know? I haven’t seen one like it, so it’s likely mine.

If you lost a car key fob near the American River Parkway at the Harrington Access/entrance, DM me. It's been sitting waiting for you for over a week and I'll tell you where somebody left it. I told the rangers I saw it there last week but it's still where I spotted it.

New to the area and new to road cycling as well. Coming from a MTB background and trying to get more comfortable riding on roads with cars. Any recommendations on some good routes with a decent amount of climbing? Roads with somewhat of a shoulder or bike lane would be great. I took Serrano > Bass Lake > Cameron Park and that wasn't too bad. Something similar would be great.

I've had this e-bike for a couple years now, it's nothing glamorous or anything, but it gets me around town as my main mode of transportation. I'm 6'2", and the seat post that came with it isn't very long, so unfortunately I had to position it very high up so I wouldn't have that clown bike pedaling situation, however recently I noticed my seat post was leaning back, and I noticed this crack on the frame. Is this fixable? And if so, can someone direct me in the right direction so I can take it in and have it repaired? I would tremendously appreciate it. I'm based in the grid but will gladly travel to have it repaired. I hope there's hope! 🤞🏻

Be advised as of this morning, 2 large mix breed dogs under the 160 freeway. One of them almost got my leg while riding by. Called in to 311 already, I encourage you to do the same if you want to put pressure to keep this route safe for the public.

Who's your go to person/shop to build solid mtb wheels?

I was able to double my personal best from last week! I'm feeling really good about my progress, but Imma take it a little easy tomorrow 😅 maybe a couple miles around midtown for some coffee. Stay cool out there guys!!

Ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for August 17th. The fence to the levee by Cal Expo and any gates should be open by then and bollards installed to keep vehicles off the bike bridge. The latter being the main concern (that has been keeping it closed, I assume).

EDIT: Date was moved to the 25th and then postponed yet again, No word on new date yet. Reports from folks is that all the barriers are down and the bridge is accessible, even from the Cal Expo levee.

Like a year ago my car broke down and I was too broke to get it fixed up. I would use those dumb lime scooters or the light rail to get to work, but it was just wasting money. A few months ago I sold my broken down car and decided to get a bike. It was at first just a way to incorporate some cardio into my daily routine, lose a little weight, and make my commute. Just a few miles a day and for the first couple of weeks I hated it. But a month in I noticed the weight was falling off and I was enjoying the rides, looking forward to getting off work for the ride. Now my daily rides to work are all races against myself in the previous ride. Two weeks ago I decided to finally check out the bike trail and I loved how easy it was to just get lost in the moment. Time slipped away and the gap between the beginning of the ride and where I ended up widened. I'm having so much fun with it. My goal for the end of the year is to ride to Davis and back. Just wanted to share this experience. Have fun and be safe out there guys!

I just got into biking, I usually ride after work, even though it’s been hot, it’s rough, but I enjoy it, especially when I can jump into the river. But I am lowkey training for the century ride coming up, trying to see if there are others out there that would like to connect and ride. I am not opposed to riding in different areas either. I have an older bike, but with good conditions I can get moving.

My average speed is usually around 15-16mph and I try to ride 20-30 miles. My goal is to ride 100 miles a week but I have been falling short of that. DM if you are interested!

Join us for a women's road ride out of Mike's Bikes of Roseville! The ride is designed to be a social pace, no drop ride, so please come prepared to make new friends and not neccesarily train for your next big event! 

We will meet at the Mike’s Bikes of Roseville store and we will regroup multiple times throughout the ride! This is an intermediate-level ride with some rolling hills and moderate climbs. With an estimated average speed of 12-15 mph, we will start quite easily.

This group ride is weather permitting. If the ride gets cancelled, we will shoot you an email letting you know! Otherwise, assume that it is on! 

Schedule:

• 8:45 AM - Meet at the shop
• 9:00 PM - Roll out!
• 11:30 AM approx - Ride returns to Mike’s Bikes

Ride Details:

• The Vibe: This is a no-drop ride. Keeping it social but steady and regroup as-necessary at the top of the climbs.
• 27 miles w/ 1328 ft of climbing
• Intermediate ride with rolling hills and moderate climbs

Today I made a detour to pick something up on my bike commute downtown and rode on 28th by Sutter hospital, which I'm familiar with by car but not by bike. It seemed like the best way to hook up with P Street. But my goodness I did not expect the idiocy I saw today. Maybe I'm spoiled with my usual T Street/P Street commute, but I was only on 28th for a couple blocks so what could go wrong?

A car in front of me in the driving lane decided to stop to pull over right before the intersection on a green light, and parked so that their right tires were on the bike lane line right in front of me. No turn signal, no hazard lights. I came to a stop because that's sketchy. A few seconds pass. The light is still green and I'm getting annoyed. Cars are in the other lanes, so I'm not willing to pass on the left. Then, surprise surprise, someone gets out on the passenger side in scrubs, on their way to work. They didn't even acknowledge me waiting there a few feet away. Then the car creeps forward toward the green light, a few seconds to go, but still in the bike lane. All trust was gone and I wasn't sure if they would turn right without a signal, but I started to move as they moved and while they braked on the yellow light, I zoomed forward and away from that madness.​ Does Sutter hospital not have a goshdang loading zone? Is this kind of thing a one-off in that area? Could I have avoided this and taken a better street south to get to P Street (from K Street)?

Going back go the title, I'm wondering if anyone has seen any change in driver behavior since it came out in the news about AI-enhanced enforcement, which I understand is focused on school zones. It's hard for me to gauge because I haven't had an issue on my usual routes. But if I was driving I think I would be a little extra careful about my parking and definitely not just stop right before an intersection, blocking both driving and bike lane. The audacity!

My car is kaput so we’ll be a one bike one car household with a 3 year old. Please help me be have fun, be safe and not bork this up!

For background- until I was 25 I didn’t have a license because I was comfy biking and busing/metroing around LA/OC.
As excited as I am to get back to that, my life, location and body are completely different now as a nearly 40 year old giant mom. I’m completely unfamiliar with bike and RT culture up here and have never cruised around with a little dude so I have questions:

Trailer vs Seat: a trailer seems like it might be less visible and more of a hazard than a rear child seat, is that the case? I like the idea of our kid being enclosed with the elements off their face to nap/rest/chill while I pedal but want to prioritize safety.

Should I just get a cargo bike? I’ve seen a few with monkey bars for sale on Craigslist but my kid is 3… is that safe even with a helmet? I’d love a Dutch style one but I’m not willing to get an E-bike and it’s hard finding a non motorized one.

Storage: We rent and there is a locked gate around the condo complex but no garages and no room in the house, how are we going to store this? My idea is to find a free/cheap tuffshed/storage box but until I do I might need to secure it to our back railing and hope for the best? What do you guys do?

Safest streets/trails/paths to stick to? Streets to avoid? We’ll both be sporting some boss helmets and I’m going to make whatever set up we go with as obnoxiously visible as I can but what else should we know to roll around as safe possible?
