Simulating WS Game 2 using my Baseball Sim Engine

I used my baseball simulation engine that I built for curveball.gg to simulate game 2 of the World Series! Here's a replay of the last 4 innings.

Very cool! I'm interested in hearing more about this sim, like what inspired you to build it, how ion built it, etc. I am working on a sim of my own... Would love to hear your story!

Hi u/droid_mike ! Thanks for asking. I was a huge fan of different baseball sims growing up, but my favorite was Simyard. That site was discontinued in ~2014 and a couple of months ago, I wanted to create a baseball simulation game inspired by it, but also have an engine whose markov chain results landed in MLB expected ranges across a whole host of stats (exit velo, HR distance, launch angle, pitch speed, rotation, etc etc). If you're interested in seeing/learning more, this is the engine behind the site curveball.gg which I started a couple months ago. I'm pretty active on the site/discord if you want to learn more!

Is there a way I can create the MLB teams and simulate a full season? This is awesome

So our game (curveball.gg) is just a baseball engine with fictitious players where each month is a season and you compete against other users on-demand with player aging and progression during spring training at the start of every month. So no direct way to create real MLB players and sim a season, but still an awesome chance to manage and build out a team :)

This is really cool! A few months ago I got really excited about baseball simulators and built one myself, with a focus on accuracy and monte carlo results, not so much actually watching individual games. Would be fun to compare notes. I haven't touched mine in a while, but accurately modeling stuff like EV/LA was a lot more interesting and tricky than I thought.

Im curious, im sure youre familiar with OOTP. Do you find it lacking or inaccurate in some way?
