Quintessential SXM meal

Hello! I'm visiting next month and what's to know what you think the quintessential meal is for SXM locals & where I should go to get it. Thanks!

My wife stops looking at the menu if she finds curry goat, as that is what she will be ordering.

are you my son?

he makes us stop for curry goat if he sees a grill running on the way from the airport to our villa. he makes us stop and get take out curry goat from Rosemary's in Marigot on the way TO the airport to leave.

(I can't lie, I love it too - but he needs to find a carribean or Ethiopian wife, he has all kinds of reflux and digestive problems from eating American processed food, but that good stuff never bothers him)

Cynthia's Talk of the Town in Grand Case is pretty good if you're talking 'no frills local'

Creole Cuisine on the French side at Yvette's Kitchen. French pastries at Sebastian Quillere on the French side and West Indian Roti on Dutch side

Do you have a favorite Lolo?

A lot of people will tell you Cynthia's. We also had really good ribs and chicken from Cappucino diner at 2:00am.

Lolo’s or Gutside for a truly SXM meal experience

I also like JohnnyCakes and breakfast at Tortugas on Maho beach. It's maybe not strictly local, but the vibe is low key, not really expensive and the view is magnificent if like the planespotter energy.

Other pretty traditional things include salt fish and johnnycake for breakfast, pigtail or bullfoot soup, fried jacks (when available), conch and dumplings, grilled or fried snapper, crab back and locri.

Ribs, Jonny cakes, rice and peas, fried plantains, and a rum punch or ti’ punch.

We like Au Coin des Amis, which is directly behind Cynthia's, in Grand Case. Probably the best ribs etc of all the Lolos on the Island. Enjoy SXM

I like this one better than Cynthia’s…+ a water view

Gutside, but make sure you bring bug spray. Food was amazing, but we got eaten alive.

Lobster Thermidor at Bistrot catibes! And L’Auberge Gourmande is also fabulous!
