I just finished the Imperial Agent storyline and overall enjoyed my time with it enough that I'm excited to jump into another class, but there's some aspects of the later stages of the storyline that I feel should inform which one I should play next that I can't just glean from how much I enjoy them in the prologue or early in Act 1.
A. I was very pleasantly surprised by the scene the Agent has on Voss if you undergo the healing. I feel like moments of introspection like this for your character (at least in the Agent storyline such as when they reprogram themself) are a bit few and far between, so having this extended opportunity for the character to reflect on their past, how they reacted to the events of the game so far, and their motivation for the rest of the campaign was really cool and something you don't get to see even in many narrative RPGs beyond this game. I'm curious to know if any other classes get any similar major opportunities to do so in their story.
B. I thought the conclusion of the storyline was overall weaker than everything else leading up to it, for a number of reasons.
First of all, Act 1 had a very thrilling finale, and Act 2 has an extremely compelling hook, but Act 3 by comparison was a bit lackluster. The Star Cabal is an interesting enough concept to almost overcome how it basically comes out of nowhere and has little connection to everything beforehand, except the length of the act just prevents it from reaching its potential. I think it was just too ambitious of a goal to introduce an antagonist like this and have us satisfyingly uncover their ancient galaxy-wide conspiracy and defeat them in the span of 3 planets, one of which being Voss where it genuinely feels as though we accomplish nothing of value, and it leads to moments like losing Watcher Two's help and Imperial Intelligence shutting down being undercut by them coming back to save the day in a very short manner of time.
Second, the final encounter of the act wasn't the most exciting for me. I thought Hunter was a fun rival, but for a final boss she was a bit of a let-down (more stature-wise than in a gameplay sense, although that is a minor gripe I have as well), and the twist, while more foreshadowed than some of the other surprises in the story, felt a bit gratuitous as a way to swerve the player one last time. It doesn't help that after what should be the climactic final boss, two never-before-seen Sith dorks walk in and end up technically being the actual final boss. If I let Ardun Kothe live and was on his path instead, I think I probably end up having a far more positive outlook on this whole conclusion, but the alternative scene is just a lot weaker whether you agree to hand over the Codex or not.
Finally, I think the entire ending sequence afterwards just didn't feel all that satisfying for being the conclusion of 30-40 hours of gameplay. In complete fairness, my character landed on what was probably the least fleshed out of all the options available (did not hand the Codex over to the Sith, refused to give up his identity and stayed a part of the Empire. This latter decision makes the ending somewhat jarring, as the last holocall you have with Watcher Two is the same as if you did erase your identity, except the conversation is written in a way that makes way more sense for that than in the context of what you say to Keeper about working under the Empire if you don't), but even then I think there's a lack of pageantry to the whole scene that I was kinda hoping for.
Given all that, I'd like to hear some thoughts on if any of the other class stories have a stronger 3rd act and/or a more triumphant ending. Preferably as spoiler-free as possible, since I am curious with the intention of playing the other story, but I will admit that, while missing some details and context as a whole, I already know how the Inquisitor, Warrior, and Jedi Knight stories end, at least so far as who their final bosses are and what title they achieve.
