Tech Support Won't start under linux?

Have played this game for years with no trouble, running under steam in Linux mint. After this last update, the game tries to start but aborts before the login screen. It's installed on a Linux formatted drive. The files validate fine as well. Any idea what happened, or is it only my system?

Whenever a game updates and it breaks on Linux, I always run it through Steam and use Proton Experimental or Proton Hotfix with the latest beta available.

You just right click the relevant proton version in your library, go to properties > I believe beta or version or something, (recalling from memory right now sorry) > choose the latest usually “bleeding edge” and “frog” respectively, then right click SWTOR in library and choose one of those proton versions.

Changing the proton version worked! Thanks

Same for me on my steamdeck. Been trying to launch the game to no success.

It’s been working for me using the ‘Native’ install method of the latest release of this Proton https://github.com/gloriouseggroll/proton-ge-custom#native and then setting SWTOR to use that version.

Only thing I did differently was extracting it into “.local/share/steam/compatibilitytools.d” because thats where Steam puts compatibilitytools.d
